The Ministry of Health has announced 35 more COVID-19 cases, bringing the total announced today to 78.

Of the latest cases, 22 require epidemiological investigations to determine origin.

The latest cases were announced in the Ministry’s 6 pm update following an announcement of 43 cases made in the 10 am update.

Those 43 were from batch testing that spanned eight days.

The Ministry said these 35 cases were from the period August 6th to today.

The Ministry stated:

“Thirty-five (35) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19.

o Thirteen (13) are contacts of recently positive COVID-19 cases

Twenty-two (22) are pending epidemiological investigation.

The tally for T&T now stands at 404.

what we getting now is campaign cases, that will ramp into next week. but next week, u will start to see the election day cases and that will stretch out for a few weeks, cause u will get a lot of community spread in the weeks after.

It is absolutely glaring that PNM only cared about Covid before elections. Now they've won to hell with allyuh ppl oh and let's spread the narrative that if you get infected it's your own fault.

What they were doing before was to keep testing low. Now as they are doing pool or batch testing, more cases are being discovered. I agree, the narrative from the government will be that the public wasn't listening where in fact, the government should have increased testing and reverse phases since last month knowing fully well the behavior of the public.

That mandate was always going to be achieved no matter what. No surprises there. The gov't called the election because they knew trinis could never be responsible because we love fete, lime, party and rum shop too much. Things were always going to get worse and the more time that passed, the worse the chances became of staying in power. Calling an election only expedited the inevitable. Anyhow you look at it, it was always a lose-lose situation.

Just had a talk with my folks (especially moms) about staying home more. She abides by the recommendations (mask wearing etc)... but as my grandmother would say "her foot hot."

Its very unfair to those who adhere to the guidelines to have an increased risk factor when in public....due to the negligence of fellow Trinis.

As it stands, we have no govt. We have to wait until swearing in is completed before we see lockdown or scale back measures introduced again. MOH cannot make those decisions
