Honestly, I don't see those players making a big impact in tests today and if so, not for any prolonged period of time. The truth is, all of those players are talented and weren't groomed and given the chances that the current young bloods are now given to dig into the test format, too late, too late..
Some are still young and could be considered but given the selection trend for the past couple of years, i don't think so.

I always tell ppl, its totally different playing and giving your all for "WI" , a group of islands that make up a team
the concept lacks that country patriotism

the team from the 80's and early 90's , those fellas were different tho, they knew what it was to work hard for little money since it was a way out of the hardships at that time, so they knew how to toil and work for results
add that to T20 where more money can be made in one night compared to 5 days of work...its an easy choice

a team that comes from one country, totally different mindset
u guys see how england, australia and india operate....chalk and cheese

not forgetting a messed up administration that pretty much can do what they want without consequence....

It makes sense......we have poor administration, a poor first class set and very little technical support up which not only leads to technically deficient players but inept umpires.

Nah man...this is a common occurrence around the world (most noticeably on the subcontinent though, and less in Australia)

Last year I remember some IPL matches lighting failures as well as Khetarama in Colombo

Even the famed Eden Gardens in Kolkata has its share of floodlight failures - http://www.firstpost.com/sports/trippy- ... 97426.html

What I find is very noticeable is the amount of blown bulbs on each lighting unit in Trinidad and St Kitts. And I'm no lighting expert however on TV the QPO appears to be the least well lit ground with prominent shadows on the northern and southern ends.

It looks shameful. And they use the floodlights as the backdrop for the scorecard when they go on breaks, when rain falls etc. And it shows a bank with like 20+ bulbs blown.

Seems maintenance is a non issue for the grounds owners. QPO if they really receive US$40,000 per night per game has no reason not to have theirs always replaced.

Once England reach 200 in thier 1st innings I dont give WI a chance.
If WI bowlers do well, Imagine how Anderson and Broad will make that ball sing!!

So root was dropped on 8 ....straight forward catch he went on to make 59
Stokes was dropped on 9 again same area in slips easy catch he went on to make 100

Drop catches lose matches......

So basically 142 runs given away. imagine what that score would have looked like. To many permutations after those drops to say how different things would have been.

Fielding supposed to be the fall back skill if you not naturally gifted batting or bowling wise.

Overseas players dropping catches too. Let's just blame the lighting. Case closed

So SRK and his company purchased another T20 franchise. Good business idea with the "Knight Riders" brand. Wonder which league they would tackle next...

The WI performance in the second test thus far must be acknowledged for determination and application from Hope and Brathwaithe.
They now need encouragement to hold firm and persist........don't let the accomplishment up to this stage be lost by complacency.
Hope the coaches and mentors do the right things.

The last time we had a partnership like the one today with Kraig and Shai was in 1984. By partnership, I mean batting in England against England. We can only hope to see these players be more consistent.

Need a lead of 150 and more...200 at least. muffler bearing dowrich better score some runs. Dont expect england to roll over second innings.
