Dude. Put the crack pipe down. I see an article from RT (the Russian state-run media channel) being used to support an argument that the US is pushing propaganda against Russia.
The US has only one government run media channel, VOA, the Voice of America. If it didn't come from VOA, then the capalists that sit at the sports bar every Friday, drinking beer and ordering Buffalo wings are the reason for what gets published.

They were regions of Ukraine since becoming independent of the USSR over thirty years ago.
You need to understand the difference between the USSR and Russia. They are not interchangeable terms.
