Guys , you mind sharing info on the different types of rigs/gear you use for fishing different places / species here in Trinidad?

Any fishermen around to tell me what kinda fish this is?

This fish washed up dead in work bout a week agooo (shmoney dance) *clears throat* um seriously though, it has fins like a flying fish or so but a hard bone like mask over its head kinda in the shape of batmans mask... batfish maybe? lol anyone knows its name... i wanna get more info on it from google

Looks like a flying gurnard, though I have heard it called a batfish locally its not the right name at there is another fish with that name.

When alive the 'wings' have really nice spots..catch them off jetties DDI often

it look something like a fowl-fish, but the skull part on the head different.

Caught them before...local ppl call these batfish but they are flying gunnards....

That particular one is not the regular type you catch in the gulf though. Much more pronounced plates on the head. Most people does just beat it off the hook, killing it. The spines can cause bad swelling though.

I does eat them... scale and fillet... the flesh real white and clean....

SMc it looks like you were right. We call it bluewing, and it's a rubbish fish with a very painful jab in them spines, like Mecalli said.

nice...went out yesterday and caught a few cro cro,salmon, ling ling, a salmon eel(heard u cud eat it, so we wanted to try it), a few spotted eels(got rid of that), 2 sharks, 1 cutlass fish and 1 cat fish...


that rock fish gastly catch(not sure if that what they call it) we caught one a few weeks ago, biggest i ever saw....mouth open and my whole foot could have fitted wit ease....looked nasty tho....geed
