The conflict should remain in Ukraine. It won't escalate into a world war.MaxPower wrote:DMan7 wrote:Max is right, there will be no war.

NATO will however provide arms and intelligence to ensure Ukraine puts up a fight.

What is surprising is that Russia isn't pressing as hard as everyone assumed they would have. They're holding back a lot actually.
Also, notice the focus of Russia now is to create division amongst the western allies, and from some reports.
France, Germany are not toeing the line wrt to heavy sanctions as the rest of the west.

Germany withheld approval of Nord Stream 2. That's a pretty big deal.

We all speculating here ...
Russia wants US and UK off of his front step.
Since the 90s Russia has been stating that Ukraine cannot join NATO, because it will impact Russian security.
This position has been communicated continuously since the fall of the USSR.
I don't believe Russia will validate NATOs presence in the former Soviet republics by attacking one of them, Russia has used the Article 5 concept as a.major reason for action in Ukraine.
History ..from Vietnam to Afghanistan 2021 have proven that these wars are counterproductive and impossible to win.
Interesting how Poland is now taking in Ukrainian refugees, let Putin's onslaught continueDe Dragon wrote:Redman wrote:bluefete wrote:teems1 wrote:The conflict should remain in Ukraine. It won't escalate into a world war.MaxPower wrote:DMan7 wrote:Max is right, there will be no war.

Ukraine isn't a NATO member though, nor has NATO in 30 years given any indication of letting them in. Putin simply pulled a
Hitler/Sudetenland style naked power grab, in some deluded re-unification of the old USSR. It'll get interesting if he attacks actual NATO members like Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.
