Visited 2 Dim Sum Restaurants
1. Singo Ho Restaurant - Long Circular Mall
- Being my first try at Dim Sum I have to say this was a bad experience. We were there early at 11:45 am on a Sunday and all the food was cold. I can't imagine how such a big restaurant boasting that they are under new management in Facebook and posting pics which made me visit them in Jan '16. They prepare the food in advance and just await for the customer to order, the food was not even on warmers and took only a few minutes from placing the order to reaching the table. The prices for the items were from $20 - $30. Oh, most items had pork so our options were limited. No dumplings, no pows etc.
2. The Shanhai Experience - Movie Towne
I visited this place also in Jan '16 after having lunch right next door at Ruby Tuesday. My wife was surprised that I suggested to go and sample a couple dishes after our bad experience at the above. This was at 1:10pm on a Sunday. So I ordered the beef pow, some shrimp, dumplings etc.
It was brought on the trolley which i saw had a burner and it was heated on it and served hot. We were also offered some fried squid and the honey glazed shrimp ball.
The food was delicious even though it was close to the 2pm close for Dim Sum. I would suggest to anyone to try their Dim Sum. We had previous visits for the lunch and dinner so we knew the food was good and now confirmed that the Dim Sum was good as well.
W.R.T. the prices, yes its more expensive but for taste its worth it.
At the end of the day, Dim Sum is really about appetizers so you have to be in the mood for it. So it's just having several appetizers for lunch.
