D ..................... on a friday evening is starting to have that familiar effect on me.
Is Mas Tuning a private concern with a legally registered and operating business operating on private property?
What is the nature of this business?
What is your question?

I take it these events paid TTPS to do the jobs their salary already compensates them for hence they're not in an "area designated as a "High Risk Crime Hotspot" and thus unsafe for an event of this nature. "

Is that was meant by: "ARA - We pay no bribe."

A simple yes or no would have sufficed, but no you have to get all up in there don't you?

Trinidad Grand Prix 2014 in Arima cancelled by the Chief of Police due to the risk of MURDER and CRIME.

This will be good for the Sports Tourism Thrust of the Government of Trinidad & Tobago

What utter nonsense that will only encourage racing on the road.

Based on cnc3 news report, organizers said they only recieved verbal notice and will still be going ahead with the event.

Should the police show up, their lawyers would be on standby to address any issues....

Good Day All,

Please be advised that the Arima Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday 26th January, 2014 has been cancelled.

The Commissioner of Police sited as his reason for revoking approval, the fact that the area to be used for the Grand Prix was presently a "High Risk Crime Hotspot" and thus unsafe for an event of this nature. As such, the event would no longer be allowed to continue.

TTASA is sorry for any inconvenience that this cancellation will cause, but as one can see, even despite our greatest efforts, the matter is presently out of our jurisdiction.

Umm...just wondering if they will cancel all carnival events in Arima since it is a hotspot??. or is it just the auto racing fans being victimised here.

Actually the whole country is a crime zone.
And therefore by adapting the Police theory, then a curfew should be implemented.

Or even make it illegal to leave your house as they are not sure who the criminals are and when a crime might happen.

This is not a legit excuse to justify street racing, just saying.

I don't suppose anyone agrees with the explanation given for the cancellation of this event, so if this sort of thing is to be prevented in future the true cause of the problem needs to be determined. Was it:

1. Police don't like motor racing
2. Police don't like people who go motor racing
3. Police looking for a bribe
4. Police can't be bothered with this additional work
5. Police don't like the people organising the event
6. The organisers failed to do something of critical importance
7. Speed limit applies everywhere in Trinidad, not just public roads
8. etc etc etc

Once the root cause has been established then action could be taken, but if the cause cannot be established because the Police refuse to answer truthfully then this seems to be a matter for the Police Complaints Authority.

I think the cancellation of quite a few events in the last 12 months without a proper and reasonable explanation is a disgrace to Trinidad and Tobago and the T&T Police and action should be taken by the motorsport community to try and stop it happening ever again.
