This thread is awesome!!

For my contribution, not too long ago a friday night about after 7 a garbage truck was passing in front my house. As the garbage man go to take up the garbage in front my house..the driver X to board mash out and leave the garbage man. The garbage man, a rasta in his forties end up running behind the truck...bawling out to the driver to stop but the man just gone..

So the rastaman now pacing up and down the pavement...talking hard to himself..still in shock...like the man was in real distress...So i seeing him from the porch gone outside to talk to him...I myself see all what went down. As i was talking to him...yunno d fackin garbage truck drive pass back and as he see the man he gunning speed..rastaman run behind him but he just gone...

The rastaman now telling me how he from Carlsen Field and he show me he don't have any money and he don't know how to get home from here in Fyzabad. Thinking the man must be hungry this hour..I offer to buy the man a box of bbq a couple houses away..He gladly accepted and he ate.

So i tell him don't worry i go handle him...I went and got him an old but clean pants and shirt..I tell him come an rinse out first then change into them. When the man see the clothes...the man start to cry. He say no one ever did anything nice like this for him. Dem feels was acting up in me. Saying how a complete stranger, even me being a different race to him..still offer to help him. He was grateful..

When he was cleaned and changed up..I took my brother and we drop him Sando by the taxi stand.
In the car he shared many stories with us. From growing up and d life of hustlin'..working hard to make ends meet.

Well we dropped him off and he thanked us again. Last thing he said was "Bless Up Akee".

It felt good to help someone in their time of need. Made me appreciate what i have and even how fortunate i am even when sometimes we take it for granted.

lol @ the video that made the whole world cry
if THAT makes you cry, you must really live in an area surrounded by misery, or you tend to focus on the negativity of the world. Most of that vid seems pretty normal to me. If anything though, the whole idea of parking your car, and stopping traffic to help someone cross the street seems a bit on the dangerous side :/

Starbucks Customers Break 1,000 in Pay-It-Forward Record

The customers at a Connecticut Starbucks are on their third day of a record-breaking pay-it-forward spree as more than 1,000 customers have cheerfully agreed to pay for the customers behind them.

Today's run smashed the record the store set Thursday at closing when a total of 783 people paid it forward.

"Nobody has broken it (the chain) yet," said Joshua, manager of the Starbucks store in Newington, Conn. Joshua said he is not permitted to release his last name according to company policy.

The store opened a gift card for moments when there is no one behind a paying customer. "On Christmas Day, somebody put in $100," Joshua said.

The pay-it-forward chain began about 8 a.m. on Christmas eve. Some customers pull into the drive-through expecting to pay just a couple bucks for their coffee, but may end up paying an upwards of $15 more for the person behind them without any hesitation, Joshua said.

"I think it's awesome,… but most importantly, l hope it influences other people to do random acts of kindness, not just pay it forward at Starbucks, but to keep it going," he said.

When the number reached 30, the Starbucks employees were shocked it was so high. At 40, Josh posted a picture of the tally board on Instagram. Now at 1,000, the possibilities seem endless.

"We hope that it will continue on, even if it doesn't continue on here, we just hope that it will inspire people to do greater things and inspire people to do more for their communities," Joshua said.

Well, my contribution. as an undergraduate, I got lots of help form my parents and other people proofreading assignments and whatnot. Now me, not really being in a position to repay them meaningfully, I just accepted the help gratefully. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I'm currently doing my Masters Degree. However, I got lots of undergraduate friends. So, one friend tells me he's got a 3000 word essay with only a few days left. I'm like okay, let me know if I can help. So he finished it like the night before it was due and send it to me to proofread. So I spent 3 hours painstakingly reading over it and pointing out mistakes and whatnot. Sent it back to him the same night. It felt good to do what has been done for me to other people. The cycle of good continues.

TL;DR did to others as was done to me, felt great and understood the meaning of life
