For my contribution, not too long ago a friday night about after 7 a garbage truck was passing in front my house. As the garbage man go to take up the garbage in front my house..the driver X to board mash out and leave the garbage man. The garbage man, a rasta in his forties end up running behind the truck...bawling out to the driver to stop but the man just gone..
So the rastaman now pacing up and down the pavement...talking hard to himself..still in shock...like the man was in real distress...So i seeing him from the porch gone outside to talk to him...I myself see all what went down. As i was talking to him...yunno d fackin garbage truck drive pass back and as he see the man he gunning speed..rastaman run behind him but he just gone...
The rastaman now telling me how he from Carlsen Field and he show me he don't have any money and he don't know how to get home from here in Fyzabad. Thinking the man must be hungry this hour..I offer to buy the man a box of bbq a couple houses away..He gladly accepted and he ate.
So i tell him don't worry i go handle him...I went and got him an old but clean pants and shirt..I tell him come an rinse out first then change into them. When the man see the clothes...the man start to cry. He say no one ever did anything nice like this for him. Dem feels was acting up in me. Saying how a complete stranger, even me being a different race to him..still offer to help him. He was grateful..
When he was cleaned and changed up..I took my brother and we drop him Sando by the taxi stand.
In the car he shared many stories with us. From growing up and d life of hustlin'..working hard to make ends meet.
Well we dropped him off and he thanked us again. Last thing he said was "Bless Up Akee".
It felt good to help someone in their time of need. Made me appreciate what i have and even how fortunate i am even when sometimes we take it for granted.
