Me too buddy...me too...

My budget seems to be the same as yours.... i.e around $200 US...

The main choices I've come up with so far are Grado SR225i, Sennheiser HD558, and Audio Technica ATH-M50...all have their strengths so it's basically up to u to do ur research and find the perfect be for u...

In my honest opinion the safest buy seems to be the Audio Technicas due to the fact that they are the most affordable @ $139 US and getting the most favorable reviews....also they are said to be the most durable of the bunch...the Sennheisers strength over the 3 that I mentioned is comfort I guess...and the Grados seem to have the most vibrant and exciting sound...

The Grados are said to have a certain signature sound that I'm very curious to hear for myself...but the build quality on them looks the weakest compared to the other 2... The Sennheisers look. Bit like cheap plastic to me...but the design is pretty nice and build quality looks sturdy...the Audio Technica from what I see definitely has the best build quality and is the moist durable but they are also the ugliest out of the 3 if ur a person who can appreciate the retro design of the Grados

Yeah I understand but durability is high on my list, make no sense paying an arm and a leg for a headphones sounds heavenly for a few months then dies. The Audio Technica seems to be a great choice, I just wish the cable were removable

Yea that's what I said in my previous post....if it were me I'd probably go with the audio technica....main deal breaker is that it comes so highly recommended and the price is great...plus the durability is top notch...

I was just saying that I'd love to get my ears on some Grados cuz I heard that they have a certain sound u can't get from any other brand...a signature sound...I think I'd bypass the Sennheisers and go with the audio Technica and later down in d future I'd save up every month a lil $200 here and there till I make up money for a pair of Grados as well...

nothing wrong with having 2 pairs of headphones if u purchase sensibly...in the case with having the Audio technica's and the Grados u'd basically be owning 1 open and 1 closed back headphones Lolz

Non removable cables shouldn't be a big issue though ....a lot of high end headphones don't come removable neither.....take the same Grados for example...the cables are soldered on...as with many other headphones...heck even my $250 US astro A40 gaming headsets don't have removeable cables...not an issue though...

these audiophile companies treat their customers with care so more than likely u'll have a great warranty with your purchase...so it's just a matter of sending the headphones to the US for the company to fix or replace

I had these a time sold them on tuner here. Better than any beats headphone out there by a million miles. Only reason I sold them cause I wanted the denon.

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AT ... =pd_cp_e_2

Here is also the Denon AHD 1100 its $199 but no discount yet so it will drop for sure to like $130

http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AH-D1100-Ad ... =denon+ahd

Which of these is better when you factor in price and build quality?

Audio Technica without a doubt. That headphone is invincible. But it produces a neutral flat sound since its a studio monitor headphones designed for creating music not listening to them. Basically it don't have the fancy EAR technology like the sennheiser and audiophile headphones. Audiophile headphones can make it sound like its a loudspeaker you listening to and not a headphone.

NONE. Buying anything creative for headphone audio will be the biggest mistake of your life. Its like putting diesel fuel to power a Jet.

You want something thats actually for audiophile headphones then buy this.

Ultrasone is boss. I had one was the cheaper 580 you can get them for $120 US. They were a lot more expensive.

If you want to buy one now and can't wait for Denons to drop then get the Ultrasone. Anyone will do they really is amazing. They have grand reviews on head fi forum.

But I personally didn't like the warm studio sound from it. I preferred the Sennheiser with their EAR technology and more laid back tone.

Correct.

You should not carry around and abuse the Senns and Denons. They are made for your own personal use in a dark room at nights with your AC on and nothing but your favorite music playing LOL.

Some people might like it and some may not. Possibly its just a case of me but I didn't like the upfront bright tone of the AT M50. It was too sharp for my eardrums. Everybody ears different, maybe you may like them.

Dude! You confusing me lol, I moving from a $250 TTD altec lansing in ear bud to the ATH m50s, I doubt I would have much complaints. But the thing it has going for it is its durability. Thanks alot for the help btw! Wanted the opinion of someone who knew something about headphones lol!

LOL let me just be clear. If you moving from them speakers to this ATM50 then let me tell you its gonna be GRAND.

Basically them ATM 50 are god like. What I speaking about is like differences you hear in a dark room alone LOL. Thats audiophile talk really. For you its gonna be perfect. You can't go wrong with solid 5 star reviews.

You will need an AMP though. Using these headphones on a normal mainboard sound chip is very bad if you ask me. It will be a huge step up but trust me its still like putting diesel fuel in jet.

No

The Grados are Open Back. ATM 50 has massive bass compared to the Grado. Remember the ATm 50 is a studio monitor it can reproduce 20 hz at about -2DB.

If you like RAP and stuff then get ATm 50. Grado is for Rock.

My laptop has a soundcard.... I think, the volume manager has creative logo on it and it has equalizer and EAX 4.0, bass boosts etc, but I might buy an external sound card like this

EFFECTIC DESIGNS, it strange you posted the AT because I was looking at those about a month ago but then I saw the Denon's and decide to do some research.
One of my concerns would be about people around be being able to hear what I'm listening to which was a complaint I saw on one of the Sennhiesers. I dont know if from your experiences it's as bad as some reviews made it out to be.

Yes its very Loud. Never a concern for me though. I don't use them around people. The At and Denons no one would really hear anything since they are closed back. Nothing can beat a true open back experience though.

To those who sending me PM about what sound card to buy I am only gonna say it one last time. Don't be a noob and buy creative for audio listening. Please do not do this please.

If money is short then buy this its only $24 and it has a built in headphone amplifier.

http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Channel-Soun ... s+Xonar+DG

Asus Xonar DG I had this and personally tested it. Its audio quality for headphones are way better than any creative card for under $200. Thats the vast difference in quality Asus provides.

Or if you have a laptop or If you can muster some more cash get this for $60

http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E10-USB-Head ... s=fiio+amp

This is audiophile grade for $60 believe it or not. It has grand reviews on head fi forum. I talking about men with $1500 US headphones and $3000 US tube amps recommending this thing for $60

And if you want to get a good audiophile headphone right now then get this

http://www.amazon.com/Ultrasone-HFI-580 ... enon+d2000

for the price it can't be beaten. Other option is wait till christmas and keep checking amazon everyday for the prices to go down 40% off on sennheisers and denons.

Thanks dude!

Anyone here uses foobar 2000 to listen to their music on their pc? I'm really liking it, much better sound compared to WMP and loads of add ons!
