Easy one.

fairlady maybe??

Correct. Or moreso the Fairlady-Z (pronounced zee, not canadian zed). Came out and rivaled the MG and Triumph at the time.

Originally displaced 988cc's. Then came in 2.0L which is the one that made its name (and then 2.4L in the Datsun Fairlady 240z and so forth later on).
