Um, last night police was brutal with the shoulder drivers eh. Driving with their blue lights off to catch people. Plenty ticket pass from what I see.

Mr. Reid lived...with minor injuries...even after somersaulting 3 times....walked out....why yuh think.....Seat belt.. :!:

Mr. Gallera.....died on the spot.....was sent thru the windscreen.....stuck in it actually....and his front seat passenger also died.....back seat folks critical........you do the math

...now, yes the wingroad was servely hit but think about it...learn from this people....

wagon i did not miss your point entirely! it was duely noted, BUT if the suv did not hit them would some of them be dead and some critical?

Yes more of the passangers from the wagon may have gotten away with minor injuries , but from looking at that wagon i think the driver may have still been killed instantly even if his seatbelt was being used.

^ true but he never gave himself that chance.....and neither did anyone else in the car.

accidents will happen but if you don't take the steps to protect yourself, then blame would also be placed on your shoulders....

...look at this morning, a lady in front of me, no seat belt and her son standing between the seats. now, we in traffic and she "just going across the h/way" to drop him.....but who is to say what could happen....she could never catch him in time or protect herself....

....say she did hit something, everyone quick to blame the other driver, but you put yourself and your son at risk.....i blame you first.....you had a choice.

...those folks in that wagon were minding their business, had no idea that death would come calling.....they were even in the left lane and lookin at the scene, got pushed onto the shoulder with force.....

many folks in here think it will never happen to them.......i wish them luck.

eekipoo,
the driver died.
do you drive from your backseat?

a backseat occupant was also dragged, while trying to get out of the vehicle.............. :|

Rachel Wade, who witnessed the accident, said a woman in the back seat tried to jump out of the Wingroad.

However, the car dragged the woman forward and came to a stop. Galera was flung forward upon impact and his body stuck in the front windscreen,

why fight it? the point is, seatbelts, in this instance, may have made the difference between crushing injuries, and death.

and many of them say they is big man, they driving long time and could handle themselves on the road. The sad part is a lot of adults drive like fools with their family in the car. The family come to accept that as normal part of driving eg: there is traffic - buss down the shoulder once it have no police around.... when they hear or see a bad accident, they say "oh gosh, how sad" etc.. and the next day they forget and back to old ways.... and the cycle continues.

The only way things will change imho is when the Govt tighten up the laws, increase fines and TTPS enforces these without corrupt practices. Then we would wear seatbelts, stop at every red light, use turn signals etc.

btw, ent when most of us go abroad we are very mindful of their laws???

think about it this way you ever see a crash test video where the windscreen buckled OUTWARDS like that?

I must say i thank my father for my seatbelt etiquette he installed seat belts in the car before they became mandatory. props to Toyota too for making the annoying chime if the front seat occupants are not buckled in.
Open door
Bounce starter (to warm up)
and seatbelt one time (its my car and i alone drive so no adjustments needed)
