that car must have been airborne upon impact into that pillar. did it flip? does anybody know what actually happened? I wish toyota would go back to making cars with more ridged chassis. and can somebody please tell me why the fk it is in this day and age new cars of that size are being sold on 14" wheels with 175millimeter width tyres? omg that is so fking absurd.

We're definitely not happy with the title of the front page of the Monday 5th January 2009 Guardian, ".... Jizelle knocked out".

It's neither amusing or appropriate. It borders on poor taste and should be retracted.

I know we straying from the topic here but I agree fully that the Guardian was totally inappropriate in their handling of that headline and the story in general.
Someone has died and they are using corny catch phrases. I don't think that even the smaller papers would do that.

I saw the accident mere minutes after it happened on my way to work..People were now stopping and getting out of their cars to view it. It looked just like that except with the roof all the down to the seats. It was flat.

Clearly you don't have a clue about physics, or the dynamics of vehicle accidents.

The manufacturers of these New model cars surely cheating us of a proper reinforced cage structure in these cars......Vehicles cage structures should be well built to hold its shape in a crash. The stucture is clearly not made in proportion to the speed the vehicle can reach

True, but car vs concrete support? The German build Mercedes-Benz S-Class still crushed Princess Diana - Benz vs Tunnel? Dodi Fayed's driver was speeding est. @ 155km/h. 80km/h may have been survivable.

Eye witnesses say the Yaris spun just before impact - maybe from a bad drive? a stray dog? garbage perhaps? But speed determines driver control or lack there of. The slower the speed, the easier it is to regain control.
