Law will come and chill out in the Caribbean for a while. Enjoy the rum and the weather (although Australia offers the same), collect a decent pay packet and be gone when he or the board gets fed up. Meanwhile we will continue losing the best players (who to be honest are not exactly world beaters anyhows) to the T20 leagues due to the arrogance of a board comprised of persons who have never even played the game at the 1st class level.

True^ i guess the important question is will he leave before the contract is up or would he b fired for ill speaking the Board when he doesn't get his way/best team.

I highly suspect that Darren would move to the T20 leagues. He isn't a bad T20 player however he previously had given his time to Test cricket (rarity for WI players) and as such did not focus much on the T20.

Two tests on the play
India VS England Day 1- 284/4
Australia vs Pakistan D/N Day 2- Aus 429; Pak 87/8

On a side note and proving he is class in all formats -
"In 2016, Kohli currently has 1200 Test runs at an average of 80.0, 739 ODI runs at 92.3, and 641 T20I runs at 106.8......http://www.espncricinfo.com/blogs/conte ... 72657.html"

India has made their highest ever test score and also the highest test score by any team against England.....this as their current big 3 (Kohli, Pujara and Vijay) all failed. Unbeaten triple century to Nair (I too had to google him after the last test).

England have 1 day to see out as I doubt they can win from here.

Kohli is indeed the best batsman in the world right now and if he was playing in the last great era of fast bowling, he would have been better than SRT. But the fact is that you can't compare those two eras. Kohli came about when there were one, possibly two GREAT Fast bowlers. The great being steyn and the possibly great being johnson. The last group of batting legends had to face ambrose, walsh, waqar and wasim, donald, vaas, craig mcdermott, jason gillespie warne, murali and kumble, akhtar, lee, polluck and ntini. Its like trying to compare viv richards or brian lara with george headley. Richards and Lara's eras were dominated by express pacemen who lasted whole careers while headley's era did not have a plethor of express pacemen. Kohli though has the potential to be better than gavaskar who was better than tendulkar

I don't think kohli will ever be able to stand in Gavaskar's place from a contextual perspective. Stat wise yeah, but it was a completely different environment and the dynamics of the game has changed. Kohli rose to his position under a powerful indian team that has been rising and dominating for a number of years, when you look at Gavaskar in the team situation, bowlers he had to face with early bats, minimum protection and bowling laws at the time, it's a different story all together. Lara is another great example particularly when you compare his situation to Sachin's, to think that Lara made all those amazing knocks and records with such a poor team composition by west indian standards, attacks on his captaincy and the typical WICB charades is truly amazing.

Big debate about Kohli.

But nothing about the newcomer who made 303 not out in his first test innings and helped India to their biggest innings score in test cricket.

India 1st innings R B 4s 6s SR
KL Rahul c Buttler b Rashid 199 311 16 3 63.98
PA Patel† c Buttler b Ali 71 112 7 0 63.39
CA Pujara c Cook b Stokes 16 29 3 0 55.17
V Kohli* c Jennings b Broad 15 29 1 0 51.72
KK Nair not out 303 381 32 4 79.52
M Vijay lbw b Dawson 29 76 4 0 38.15
R Ashwin c Buttler b Broad 67 149 6 1 44.96
RA Jadeja c Ball b Dawson 51 55 1 2 92.72
UT Yadav not out 1 2 0 0 50.00
Extras (b 2, lb 4, w 1) 7
Total (7 wickets dec; 190.4 overs) 759

This isn't his first Test innings, he played two Tests earlier in the series.
But marvellous achievement!

Big Bash and Super Smash (New Zealand) started this past weekend. Was surprised to see Jayawardene scored a century (I thought he was fully retired). He's playing in the NZ competition

Still enjoyed the India England Tests even if the time zone issues meant I watched around the first hours play before bed and the last hour's play when I woke up.

The IPL draft isn't till Feb 4th 2017. Maybe its 9 WI players in the draft pool besides the retained ones (Pollard, Bravo etc)

Two tests finished this morning
Pakistan lost against Australia despite making 400+ in thier first innings with a double centurion
Sri Lanka more predictably lost to SA (SL have never won a test match in SA along with Zimbabwe and Bangladesh).

Meanwhile the most noteworthy thing in WI cricket that happened was that Dwayne Bravo tore a hamstring in the BBL.
