Yea he seems to be a good penalty keeper but a poor match play one. Rooted too much to one spot and not just in this match.

Did you not see some of the saves he put down against Russia, even while somewhat injured? Also, the Pogba goal was out of his control. Pogba knew the defenders were in Subisic's line of sight and he skillfully took advantage of it. Say what you will, but his 'stock' surely went up this WC.

Heard people saying Subasic was still carrying an injury when he played the finals, which is why he didn't dive to save any of the two legit goals by France.

Anyways what was your favourite game and favourite goal?

Favourite game is a toss up: (1) France v Argentina - R16; (2) Belgium v Japan - R16; (3) Spain v Portugal - Group.

Favourite goals is Chadli's goal in the Belgium v Japan game.

Some online pundits were saying he picked up an injury in the quarterfinals. Still, management decided to use him probably hoping their defense would be as effective as they were against England. In hindsight that was a fatal miscalculation.

Favourite goal: Coutinho, Brazil vs Switzerland (Group Stage)

Favourite game: Spain vs Portugal (Group Stage)

Best goal celebration: Messi going for a donkey ride on Rojo's back after the defender scored......Argentina vs Nigeria (Group Stage)

Best Open Play: Belgium's at the death counterattack against Japan (Round of 16). That play will live on forever.

Real party in France, flyby and thing...nice.

As things wind down I would like to agree with the sentiment that this has been the best World Cup in recent memory, it was very well orgainized and exciting. Qatar has a lot to live up to.

Speaking of which, didn't realise it's going to be a "Christmas World Cup". It must have taken some negotiating to get the domestic leagues on board. It'll be interesting to see how that whole dynamic plays out:

Qatar World Cup 2022: FIFA confirms November start date, December final

You are going to have to wait more than four years for the next World Cup. About four years and four months, actually.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed the dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, saying it will be played from November 21 to December 18.

Moving away from the summer due to the extreme heat of Qatar, this will be the first winter World Cup in the Northern Hempishere, with all World Cups played in June and July in the Southern Hemisphere being during their winter season, just like Brazil in 2014. It's not quite clear just yet how it will impact the club seasons throughout the world, but Europe and South America, at least, are expected to split their season up, and domestic leagues could begin a little earlier as a result...

Ronaldo's free kick vs spain was one of my fav goals this tournament

One of my fav goals of all time was Roberto Carlos v france in 97 where he took a free kick from about nine miles out and left Barthez standing cold.

They released film from the archives of what seems to be one of the best Final matches in history. The Queen herself presented the trophy.
