Well I would have but that would have been too discouraging for you guys, that's just the shots I got, not all the fish I landed plus it's a cooler bag, kinda dark in there.

Any cat fish over 20 knows to just dig into the mud and be dead weight and let the mud suction do the work, fight only when you start pulling them up off the bottom! And those big suckers can really fight above their weight class so you either pull the hook, bend it or break a split ring!

Hmmn, never fought a gulf cat like that. Down patos there's big hardheads and sailfins and usually fishing paternosters bout 5 foot off the bottom, they will come and take and pull like heck all the way up instead of floating up like salmon 3/4 way up. Rays will fight more like what you're describing make a big run then sit, smaller run and come up.

Have 2 reels sitting down if anybody's interested.

I find myself grabbing my battle 4000 for everything now. Getting spoiled with the lightweight outfits lol.

I fought some big catfish down five islands already. Kept getting bust off until i switched to a heavy wire leader. We caught three that night above 20 lbs.

Will be joining the ranks soon!

Wish I could afford a hobie with the mirage drive, but seems like that's alil too pricey right now. Looking at 2 months or so before I get my yak. :drinking:

The hobie outback is $2300 usd, good decent any other kayak of similar size and capacity is $1000. Add trolling motor and battery for $500 motor > outback. the Hobie Pro angler starts at $3200 usd, a similar size and spec kayak with a torqeedo motor is $3000, torqeedo > Pro angler.

Yup.. but im not interested in motor's... have my sight's set on making a V sail as soon as I get the yak. Out rigger's / floats are also in the plans for extra stability. I've been checking out yakntexas / 30milesout & zoffinger mostly on youtube not to mention afew others.. saw your video's also while searching.
