he put them on watch- doh know if dat mean simply let TTPS shutdown errant ones, or he go shut down all. i think the latter is needed now given the figures.

I have seen TTPS monitor and warn bars and patrons on the Avenue a lot over the last month or so. No arrests were made but they were warned and I guess they complied.

It's unrealistic to expect the police to monitor all bars every friday/saturday night, but random checks should be done and a few examples need to be set.

Although, weren't a few shut down recently? Or were those only bars that opened during the lockdown? Can't recall.

Key Points From Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley’s Media Conference – Friday July 31st 2020:

- Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced that gatherings in public spaces will be rolled back from 25 persons to 10. However, the numbers for funerals, religious gatherings, and S.E.A. classes, which are indoors, will not be affected by this change. Team sports can continue with spectators in groups of 10. Police will be called on to enforce the new Public Health Guideline on congregations, which should come into effect by Sunday August 2nd 2020.

- Political parties engaged in campaigning must abide by the 10-person congregation rule. Political Leaders are urged to follow this guideline.

- For the next 14 days, the Public Service will reduce the number of workers out at any one time through a rotation/alphabetised system.

- Prime Minister Rowley noted that bars and schools remain two areas of concern for health officials. He confirmed that contact tracing has led to another school being closed today. Officials are carefully watching this situation at schools and will act if more learning institutions close in the coming days.

- PM Rowley confirmed that health officials have found direct links of persons being infected with COVID-19 at bars. They are monitoring this situation and will act when necessary.

- Officials are also keeping public transport under watch at this time and will intervene if necessary.

- The Prime Minister is hopeful that these changes will slow down any other clusters that may form.

- PM Rowley on repatriation of TT Nationals: We have granted exemptions from persons coming from 40 countries. These Nationals must stay in State quarantine for 14 days, which has helped in controlling the spread of COVID-19.

- Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roshan Parasram confirmed a change in the evolution of COVID-19 cases in T&T. He said we are going into “clusters” of cases, when previously cases were classified as “sporadic.”

- Technical Director, Epidemiology Division at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Avery Hinds, gave a breakdown of COVID cases from #139 to #169.

- Among the 31 cases, seven were repatriated and classified as imported cases. They did not contribute to onward transmission to the public.

- Over the past two weeks, there have been clusters forming. Dr. Hinds said there is a family cluster of six persons. There is no clear epidemiological link yet on this group. This cluster spawned two Secondary clusters – one in school and one in family/friends.

- There is also another cluster of five persons. There is no clear epidemiological link yet. Among this cluster were at least three persons hanging out at a bar. These three then contributed to transmission of COVID-19.

- Dr. Hinds said some cases happened in the workplace and on investigation, it was found that there was a lapse in following Public Health protocols.

- There are four individuals that officials are still working to source a link, but they did not spread to anyone else.

- There are 29 people being treated for COVID-19 in the public health system (28 at Caura and one at Couva).

- Dr. Parasram stated that the Public Health facilities have seen an increase in persons coming in for viral diseases but not necessarily for COVID-19.

He mentioned "the population is South Trinidad is not taking this matter seriously."
I not sure if he was talking about the illegal immigrant situation or it was side talk for Kamla.

Dr Rowley announced the following changes:

•Congregation in public spaces will now be reduced to groups of ten (10). However the numbers for funerals, religious gatherings will remain unaffected. Persons are reminded to physically distance and wear masks. The Police Service will be called on to enforce the new Public Health Guidelines on congregations.

•Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam preparation classes will remain unchanged for now. This will remain under active watch over the next 72 hours as the contact tracing exercise continues.

•Permanent Secretaries in the Public Service will be asked to reduce the number of public servants required to work at any one time through a rotation system for the next fourteen days. This will reduce the daily workforce by 50 percent.

•Active cases have been linked to Bars. As a result Bars, Restaurants and Public Transportation will be placed under active watch and adjustments will be made as necessary.

Dr Rowley appealed to Political Parties to adhere to the new public space gathering limit of 10.

On the subject on exemptions, Dr Rowley stated that government continues to carefully address exemptions as the borders remain closed. He also announced the following figures:

As of July 29th, 2020:

Exemptions for Entry:
Number of persons seeking exemptions to enter Trinidad and Tobago: 5539
Number of exemptions granted: 2250
Number of individuals awaiting exemption: 3289

Exemptions for Exit:
Number of persons seeking exemptions to leave Trinidad and Tobago: 5580
Number of exemptions granted: 3556
Number of persons finalizing travel arrangements to leave: 2024

Exemptions to enter Trinidad and Tobago have been granted from 40 countries.

I don't get Rowley.

His 25 to 10 ppl limit changes absolutely nothing, the public service request may not be heeded by much. He's doing something, but practically doing nothing.

But why? He himself said this is the moment that other countries lost the plot. We have had 7 random clusers occur, obviously there are many many more out there now.

By downplaying the situation and allowing everything to go on as normal is DANGEROUS. If they're willingly choosing that approach fine, but it contradicts everything we've done so far.

Other countries lost the plot at this point whilst being far more locked down than we are right now. You really think trinis will behave and contact tracing will resolve this? In a week or two this will be out of hand.

Not much ppl, but there are some who own property abroad and wouldn't mind going there, vacationing and then chilling in their properties abroad.

This isn't much ppl at all mind you. Pretty sure most of that 5000 are students and workers.

who called you? You should get confirmation about this by calling and emailing the MoH. I would think that they would put this quarantine order in writing by email or paper and deliver it to you.

But quarantine to be safe anyway until you find out otherwise.

Max it could be nothing i was feeling the same way this morning, wait a couple days and if it same thing or worse then get tested but it could be nothing sometimes it's just sinus.

I know someone who had high fever 2 weeks ago it lasted 2 days and he good since and he is 60 and he has diabetes so that means he didn't have Covid it was a regular Flu.

I wonder if Flu really going around now? I thought we had eliminated it with all these mask wearing and hand sanitizing.
