Yes, u can take them of the hook by holding dem an dislodging the hook...and if u don't want to touch them, invest in a small dehooker....

the hook is not the problem inno...is to hold them.....hence why i bought the gloves.....

With a dehooker, all u need to do is hold the line run the tool down the line an with ah shake dey fall out...no touching...

The biggest thing i ever cetch is a catfish about 18"
