UNC ran the country from $9.38 to $30.56 a barrel of oil . While building the award winning airport of the region.

That may have been the price of oil on November 18, 1998, when oil hit a 25 year low.

The price of oil in 1998 was something different.

Image
It was the price and not a myth
It may have been that price for that day but it was not that price for that year.

Unless all of the oil contracts were signed on the same day, the actual price in 1998 was about 30% higher.

Saying that the price was $9 is wholly inaccurate.
We know that, but there are those who thinks its myth.

The facts speak for themselves. UNC ran the country $9.38 to $30 while building an award winning airport.

Remember the UNC only served one term while the PNM since 1956

Staring at the mirror and saying, "$9 oil," three times does not make it magically appear. The depressed oil prices only lasted one quarter before rebounding.

In fact, even the adjusted average monthly price of oil in Apr 2020 was below the Dec 1998 figure.
It didn't have a pandemic in 1998 though which affected the world economically as well. 9 dollars a quarter was still very good leadership because the country didn't suffer as it is presently

In April 2020, the spot price fell to within a few cents of the 1998 low. Adjusted for inflation, the April 2020 spot price low was $5.49 (1998 dollars).
Not disputing that.

However their are those that said $9 was a myth.

Agv is not the same as the going price.
It could be for 1min or one year on the stock market. Oil was $9.38..

As you said the agv price was $11, well done to the UNC for runing the country on $11

As spectacularly low as that price may seem, the inflation adjusted price fell to less than that when it sold below $5.50 in April 2020.

The average price for the fourth quarter 1998 was $11. While the UNC was responsible for running the government, the average price was neither $9 nor $11.

The average price was about $20.

As u says avg price was $20 and UNC did well for the only term in office

This is a fact regarding average oil prices:
The average price for the fourth quarter 1998 was $11. While the UNC was responsible for running the government, the average price was neither $9 nor $11.

The average price was about $20.

This is a fact regarding closing spot prices of oil:
Oil was $9.38

This is referred to as an opinion:
As u says [sic] avg price was $20 and UNC did well for the only term in office

Purposefully, nothing that I posted would reasonably be considered as "spin."

its also true that oil production now is way below what it used to be - so even at high oil prices we still not really benefiting from it.

Oil production in the second half of the 1990's represented 9% of Trinidad's GDP.
In the similar recent period, oil production represents less than 3% of Trinidad's GDP.

The latest data shows total natural resource income as a percentage of GDP in Trinidad at less than 6%.

Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard does not know of 10 new attorneys who have reportedly been hired for the Office of the DPP and no such attorneys have reported there as yet.

So the left hand doesn't have a clue as to what the right hand is doing or is this a witch hunt for Gaspard as he dropped the piarco charges?

UWI STRUGGLING TO STAY AFLOAT DUE TO FINANCIAL CONCERNS AND DWINDLING STUDENT ENROLLMENT.

As enrolment numbers dwindle and financial concerns continue to linger, the University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine Campus is fighting to stay afloat by focusing on strengthening the university’s chances of self-sustainability and economic survival.

According to Campus Principal, Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, despite UWI offering the lowest degree costs out of all regional campuses, during the 2021/22 period, student enrolment numbers for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes decreased by 8.7 per cent and 28 per cent respectively. Total student enrolment declined a further five per cent from 15,931 in the previous year to 15,130 students.

Because of "$9 oil and an award winning airport," I am posting this here.

Whether it should be here, or not, is entirely up to the bloggers and trolls that uncritically represent their respective parties/clans on the forum.

^ The amount of Trinis that disagree based on the social media comments is a shame.

Then again, there isn’t much competition from the other third world countries.

Political misalignment needs to be eradicated in TT. Before things could improve. Why would an area suffer just because they did not vote for the ruling party?

They want Gaspard out. The PNM witch hunt start, just like for Satnarine Sharma.
