Wait, hear this out. It will end when the UNC (in opposition) decides to do better.
Not when the actual crooks in government right now do better. I mean.... we have no better choice to vote for! If only Kamla did never teef out the Treasury I wudda vote for the next UNC next time. But for now I will take this hot rod ass reaming and PNM renting out the Treasury.... because I mean it better than UNC (who in opposition I need to remind you).

"Another L for UNC." is all the talking point I ever have.

UNC ran the country from $9.38 to $30.56 a barrel of oil . While building the award winning airport of the region.

Imbert admitted that close to 50 per cent of all of government revenue comes from the energy sector, including oil, natural gas and petrochemicals, all of which have seen prices soften recently.

Imbert admits things not as rosy as 2022

https://trinidadexpress.com/business/lo ... ium=social

Still pegging the economy on oil and gas no sign of diversification in sight

That may have been the price of oil on November 18, 1998, when oil hit a 25 year low.

The price of oil in 1998 was something different.

It may have been that price for that day but it was not that price for that year.

Unless all of the oil contracts were signed on the same day, the actual price in 1998 was about 30% higher.

Saying that the price was $9 is wholly inaccurate.

Try to put the politics aside for a bit. Over the last fifty years, the six highest average historical prices for crude oil were:

2012
2011
2013
2020
2014
2008

The lowest closing prices were in 1998 and 2020. The 2020 price was 4% higher than the 1998 price.

But if you adjust for inflation, the 2020 closing price was 76% below the 1998 closing price.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

We know that, but there are those who thinks its myth.

The facts speak for themselves. UNC ran the country $9.38 to $30 while building an award winning airport.

Remember the UNC only served one term while the PNM since 1956

Staring at the mirror and saying, "$9 oil," three times does not make it magically appear. The depressed oil prices only lasted one quarter before rebounding.

In fact, even the adjusted average monthly price of oil in Apr 2020 was below the Dec 1998 figure.

It didn't have a pandemic in 1998 though which affected the world economically as well. 9 dollars a quarter was still very good leadership because the country didn't suffer as it is presently

In April 2020, the spot price fell to within a few cents of the 1998 low. Adjusted for inflation, the April 2020 spot price low was $5.49 (1998 dollars).
