Physical ports:
Four x GigE (1000BaseTx). Make sure you call their tech support and ask for "any port,... any service".
Two RJ-11 POTS phone lines (but they can only enable ONEPOTS port till they get a firmware upgrade
Two USB. I don't think they can be used for flash or Hard Drive.
2.4GHz and 5.8GHz WiFi. The antenna radiation pattern is strongest out through the FRONT of the device.

OK thanks! I'm sure you can play movies from flash on any TV once you plug in modem! Have u tried? So is there an additional charge for extra cable boxes? How are the lines run to TV from modem? (Fibre or Ethernet?)

Can you all use fast.com for speedtests since most ISPs are prioritizing traffic to speedtest.net?

Running a speedtest during peak hours you see a big difference in speed.

When I watch Netflix content, I choose the 4K/UHD content, and it streams uninterrupted at around 25Mbps to 40Mbps.

But Fast.com shows my downlink at 7Mbps.

Therefore I choose not to use Fast.com as a measure.

What will happen when Digicel installs a local Netflix OCA?

Ok so ive had it with Digicel Internet. For the past month ive been experiencing high pings to miami (110-130ms) and really slow speeds (10-15mbps). Palmiste area.

I keep calling and the techs are very inconsistent with the information. Some techs say there is nothing wrong with the network and im supposed to use the chaguanas server only for speed tests. Other techs say they are aware of the problem and IT is working on it and has reached as far as Chaguanas.

Its been over a month now and still no resolution. Its 12am and my speed to Comcast, Miami right now is 11Mbps. What i find strange is youtube, and only youtube, streams are fine. When i right click on a video and click 'stats for nerds' the stream rate is 23Mbps.

Considering switching to Massy soon.

Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

I am in Westmoorings, and have the Digicel PLAY 200down/100up.
(I also have Digicel FTTB 200/50 in Newtown)

I have fairly consistently been getting 190Mbps down, 95 Mbps up, to the Comcast, Towerstream, or FDCServer speedtest servers in Miami. However,... I agree that over the last 6 weeks or so, the RTD jumped from 47ms, to 75ms, then started rising to 110ms.

Tracert tests to an IP address known to be in the NAP of Americas in Miami, often showed that the path went through New York. Things changed briefly last Friday when the RTD dropped back to 47ms to Miami for a day or two, but it is back to 80ms again this evening.

So, please answer a couple of questions:
* Is your PC device connected by Cat-5 cable directly to Port 1 of the modem/ONT?
* If you are connected to any port other than Port 1, have you called their Tech Support and asked them to enable all ports for 'any port/any service' ?
* What speedtest results do you get to Digicel Chaguanas?

I got an email from them indicating that there are network changes happening tonight and tomorrow affecting my services. (So hopefully that will be a network improvement in some way...)

My current speedtest to Miami: http://www.speedtest.net/result/5544485475.png
Local: http://www.speedtest.net/result/5544488950.png
During peak hours download drops to >10Mbps to Miami.

I noticed using a looking glass (http://cogentco.com/lookingglass.php) some Digicel IP Ranges are getting higher pings than others to certain areas.

Example: 161.0.154.0-255 (My IP Range) gets higher pings than 161.0.158.0-255 (My older IP Range) to Miami.

I guess that's why some like me have it worse than others.

My PC is hardwired to Port 1 via CAT6 cable, wireless disabled. Speed tests to Chaguanas show full 25 Down 15 Up.

UPDATE: @2:30am my internet cut off and came back approx 10 mins later. When it came back i noticed my ping to miami improved to 67ms and speeds to miami is now 25 Down 15 Up.

Also my ip address changed from 161.x.x.x to 170.x.x.x

Ping still not as good as the 43ms I used to get at the beginning, but its a big improvement.

One thing with Massy, you have great customer service! Quick response time. Constant updates to any issues found/fixed over email. No mind they a lil more pricey I guess you get what you pay for!

UPDATE #2:

I spoke to the tech support supervisor and he can confirm that some upgrades were applied last night. Updates are continuing over this week and next week to get the ping times down.

He said give it 2 weeks again for service to go back to the way it was at the beginning

Current tests to miami: 15 Up 25 Down Ping 67.
Black Ops 3 on PS4 ping 83..starting to get back full 4 bar connection

*crosses fingers*

Anybody got a fix for this? I've checked solutions in this thread so far. None of them seem to apply to my situation

What did digicel support tell you when you called them?

So far I feel like they're guessing.
The first time I called, the guy was at a loss for an explanation. He concluded that my wall outlet isn't providing proper power to the modem.
Was late at night so I told him I'd test it and call back if anything. Stuck my multimeter in the outlet and I'm getting 115v. Put a clamp meter on the breaker and I'm sitting around 9amps load on a 20amp breaker. The modem is in no way suffering for power

Called back again, the lady jumped that I need a compatible brand switch. What brand? TP-Link they recommend (the same I've got). She's at a loss for an explanation and recommends I get one of their compatible switches installed.

So right now I'm waiting to setup a visit from Sales to install one of their switches to hopefully remedy the problem.

Looks like we're in the year 1993 when hardware was only compatible with SPECIFIC other brand hardware

Umm sounds like an ip conflict bro. Perhaps both the modem and the router u are connecting are assigning themselves the same ip 192.68.1.1 and then both are running a dhcp server to serve your network. So u are causing a conflict in your network setup. You will have to change the internal ip of either modem or router to avoid the conflict.

Agreed. I suggest changing the router. Isolate the router, meaning don't connect it to anything. Then get your laptop and plug directly into one of its LAN ports, login into it and change its IP to something different. There digicel modem default is 192.268.100.1
If the routers IP is not that and the problem exists still, I'd say u have a defective piece of hardware bro

This possibility of a dual-DHCP IP conflict was also my first thought, until the mention of your switch, which I presume is dumb and has no DHCP ability?
When you say 'the WiFi stops working' I presume the ONT is still broadcasting the SSIDs, but your devices remain connected to 2.4 and 5.8 but just have no throughput?
I presume you have not enabled any of the special functions like "WiFi Coverage Management" under the WLAN tab on the ONT? Or the ONT firewall, etc?.
Please verify that you are plugging the switch into port 1 on the Digicel ONT? Or have you called customer care and asked them to enable 'any port/any service' ? If you use ports 3 or 4 of the ONT without enabling any port/any service, you WILL see abnormal results.
Are you using the powerline adapters to reach your set top boxes or is everything hard wired with Cat-5?

I have an 8-port Gig-E switch (Linksys SE3008 available from most Detour stores) plugged into my ONT port 1.
Five of these switch ports are permanently in use. I have set top boxes connected to ONT ports 2 and 3. And another PC device connected to ONT port 4.
I have three devices connected via WiFi, and have never noticed anything remotely resembling the problem you are having.
Good luck finding the problem! Remember to post the conclusion here to help future troubleshooters.

Just for giggles, try changing the Cat-5 cable you used between ONT and your router or switch for a brand new one ((Detour 75% off Cat-5 cables while stocks last). If Digicel left you some self-made Cat-5 cables, don't trust them unless you have tested them with something like a Fluke Cat-5 tester.

By the way, I seem to be touting the Detour stores: I have no affiliation with the store. Just suggesting a source of parts.

Lol @ noobrep responses. None of those compatibility issues matter with network euipment. But dont put them under pressure about that.

Do u need both wifi networks to be active for some reason? If not, disable the dhcp server on the router and just let the modem's dhcp feed your network. If u dont see that option in your router then u need to use the 'static ip' . Your router and all your devices will get their ip's from the modem. But for this to work, you will have to plug your ethernet cable from the modem into port 1 of the router and not the 'uplink/internet' port. This way your router will just act as a switch providing you the extra ports you need. This is the simplest solution.

This is assuming the digicel modem also has 4 ethernet ports so u only really need 1 from the router. Ive never worked with them.

To make them both work simultaneously u will have to make sure each has it's own unique internal ip and split the network dhcp ranges so that they dont assign conflicting ips. If u cant make it that far, u need a network tech.

Download gone up to 120Mbps now, its has been so inconsistent. Don't know why they fix it for that one weekend and then revert whatever changes they made.

Nah dude I've got both. Digicel is literally 10x better in speed, ping and uptime.

About 3-4 weeks ago there were some issues that are now totally resolved and haven't reoccurred since.

Ok so ive done some trace routing and observed 2 things:

if your ip is 161.x.x.x: it goes from trinidad-jamaica-delaware-new york. ping 8.8.8.8 87ms

if your ip is 170.x.x.x: it goes from trinidad-turks and caicos-delaware-new york. ping 8.8.8.8 139ms

My ip is currently 170.x.x.x and ping to mia is 150. black ops 3 on ps4 lagging like hell.

If i reset my modem i get a random new ip. its like playing lotto with digicel play.

So will my ping always remain in the 80 and up I had flow and my ping use to be 60 to 70 why digicel ping so high my ip starts with the 161 so I confirm that different ip means different ping what's the problem with digicel
