The new Ghostbusters film will go ahead without the involvement of Bill Murray, according to his franchise co-star Dan Aykroyd.

Murray said in June that he turned down the chance to star in Ghostbusters 3 because the screenplay was not up to scratch. Aykroyd, who has been spearheading efforts to bring the series back to the big screen, said the film would now progress without him.

"We've got a brilliant new writer on it and we'll be passing the torch on to a new generation," Aykroyd told Metro. "We're working on it to make it just right to satisfy our fans. I'm confident we'll be in production in the next year."

He added: "It's sad but … Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. My preference would be to have him involved but at this point he doesn't seem to be coming and we have to move on. It's time to make the third one."

Murray told David Letterman in June that he wanted any new Ghostbusters film to be as funny as the 1984 instalment which launched the series, rather than its poorly received 1989 sequel.

"They just don't have a really good script," he said. "It's hard. You know, even the second Ghostbusters wasn't as much fun for me as the first one. It's hard to make a sequel. That first one was so darn funny. It's hard for me."

Ghostbusters 3 was at one point expected to shoot last May, with Murray himself appearing in character as Peter Venkman at the 2010 Scream awards, suggesting he had warmed to the idea. Harold Ramis, who played Egon Spengler in the 80s films, was set to direct and co-star, with Aykroyd reprising his role as Ray Stantz. The latter described Murray's proposed return as the "comic role of a lifetime".

In August last year, Aykroyd appeared on the Dennis Miller show and appeared to hint that the film might go ahead without Murray. However, in February he said he was unsure if a third film would ever now be made, since his former co-star was not interested.

The new writer for Ghostbusters 3 is believed to be Etan Cohen, who oversaw the screenplays for Men in Black III and Tropic Thunder. According to reports, the new supernatural pest control quartet will include at least one woman.

Not really a fan of the franchise, but they shouldn't do it without Murray. He's the best actor in that cast. Doesn't make sense.

the first preview was great. it had u interested in why such mad things be goin on, like there was some supernatural 'lost' business in it. the second gave it all up. there is no intrigue no mystery, u just have to sit and watch a guy's journey with a tiger in the sea, until he is rescued... because u know he is the one telling the tale. its like, 'go to the cinema to see nice nature stuff, while an injun dude is there, and u know he lives and u know why there is a zebra in the boat.'

they would have made a killing if they had released only the first.

i have seen the trailer for the new twilight movie, and to me, that movie seems ridiculous. the nail in the coffin was that they show the vampire people walking towards the woods where the stars live.... but they show them walking from where they live, so i'm like thinking that they're gonna walk all the way. the wolf boy says that he is finally seeing the girl move like how she really ought to, and then she moves really fast. one of the vampire dudes does some sort of dramatic move and it looks like over acting for a dance number on a play.

to me, if they put spoof actors to do the same scenes it would come off as a spoof. this just seems ridiculous. the only reason why it has any merit is because every one wants to see what happens next so nothing needs to be explained.

well every one except me, i don't know what happened in the first place.

Took this in Saturday night in cc8. The plex was full of talk nahs, guntas, guntresses.
all of them makin ole noise.
10 minutes to go and a man pacing in the aisle sayin he sleepin by his mother tonight. The usher had to tell him sit down and wait for it.
Last minute of the movie people standing up and wanna leave lol.
When the last scene play off in the movie all the talk nahs run out the plex yes.
Gf and I was sitting right by the door so we could leave 1st. By the time we reach outside, people on the floor form the mini scared mob, one setta commotion and we just laughin.
I remember seein a gunta jump up and run out and leave his guntress. She take off behind him.
Most entertaining movie at cc8 ever

'Transformers 4' gets a new logo -- and a new star

Image

Hey, Optimus Prime — say hello to your motherboard for me.

Michael Bay has officially confirmed that the star of Transformers 4 will be Mark Wahlberg, who worked with the director on his upcoming crime tale Pain and Gain.

The Transformers sequel, planned to debut June 27, 2014, also has a sleek new logo based on the Decepticon insignia.

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay. »

- Anthony Breznican

I thought the next film was going to be a reboot of the series...:?

they should cut 3/4 of the human scenes out from Transformers tbh. Michael Bay needs to take a rest too.
