Oh sheit, I now watch that thing carefully. That's almost a full on gaming rig, the parts I posted can't compare with thatI guess when I saw it say barebones on my phone I thought it was a budget build. My bad.
lost to all wrote:no I haven't but I don't have any reservations buying from them, surprised I never saw anyone mention them at all in the thread. You can pay through paypal, google wallet, credit card, even your amazon account.
NR8 wrote:Yeah it really does seem like a good deal. Only downside is the PSU tho, kinda low on power. If you plan on adding other parts later on you might want to take that into consideration, especially a GPU.
DVSTT wrote:Got my laptop fan changed finally. The kant that repaired it scratched the lid up ridiculously bad. Also 4 of the screws are missing from the bottom cover. Steups.

lost to all wrote:Thanks guys for all the info and advice, I had a hyper 212+ heatsink and fan on my last build, but sold it when I scrapped the system, will go for 1866 if I decide to do this build, those barebones from tigerdirect are really good, they have intel i7 barebones as well, will look at there pricing on those also.
@skylinechild
Hope I don't encounter any difficulties if and when buying from them, did you get the rebate for the item or does that only apply to US citizens?

rebate wise iirc the rebate is given when you check out so if item is 35USD and u get rebated $5 off it'll reflect the new total when you ready to pay.
Other type of rebate I know they offer if you fill out some stuff they give you - you have a specific timeframe to do this - and mail it back to them - and they giv you the rebate.
I not sure if the rebate will be credited to your tiger direct account or if they mail the cash to the same address you shipped your items.

i usually fix a laptop right on my living room table but i use a small sheet of styrofoam to rest the laptop on - depending on what i'm doing.
screw management is easy a couple styrofoam cups labelled case, keyboard, screen etc keeps all relevant screws safe an accounted for

before I actually bought anything - I checked to ensure the intended processor is fully functional - and it is. this is a screenshot of the CPU Id info.![]()
going to purchase the motherboard and a video card (PCI Express) later tonight...nothing too extreme for the video card - just enough to give it a speed boost - and turn the pc (hopefully) into a low to mid HTPC or downloading machine or capable of handling some serious home use.

I think that system can be put together for a whole lot less than the asking price. .. but who really spends that kinda money on their rig..... wow

Might I inquire as to how much those components cost and if they are new or used. ...cause to me you are just sinking extra money into a dead platform. Most new graphics cards being sold today short of a cheap budget card will be held back by that processor.
The capacitors in my used 754 are swelling. ...
But to each his own ... if it works for you go ahead
