NR8 wrote:Guys I need your help please. Upgrading my mobo, CPU and ram and want to use this PSU with my existing case: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00H33SFJU

The case is a Codegen SuperPower AP3326-CA which came as a combo with a Codegen CG-PXA4-3 PSU. See links for them below:
http://e96.ru/computers/accessories/kor ... 26-ca-500w
http://www.impactcomputers.com/cg-pxa4-3.html

What I'd like to know is if the EVGA PSU can fit in this case, since its dimensions are different from the old Codegen PSU. Can anyone advise me?

Supposed to fit easily.

Checked the dimensions on both units and the evga is the same size as the codegen.

EVGA: SIZE 85mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 140mm (L)
Codegen: Height (Y) 85 (mm) Length (Z) 140 Width (mm) (X) 150 (mm)

Used a lot of brand name psus (thermaltake, coolermaster, corsair) in cheap cases like codegen, xtech, omega etc.

Thanks guys.

I've got one more question, relating to the CPU. I was initially set on this AMD A6-6400K http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CPLGFM4 but then saw the A8-6600K for about $24usd more http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CPLGGWS.

This pc is intended as an all in one: uni assignments, surfing, streaming movies. As it's a budget build I won't be using a GPU so I'm wondering if the A6 APU would be ok for a little bit of gaming like with FIFA or should I put the little extra and get the A8 one time? Are the specs of the A8 justified? The A6 reviews said that games worked good on low settings, but I haven't played pc games for so long that I don't know if that's acceptable with modern games. I won't be playing that much, only when on vacation with a 720p monitor.

BTW this is the motherboard I'll be using http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HGLX8J6
And 4gb RAM http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006WAGG14

Will the 4gb RAM be sufficient though?

You should honestly get 8gb, it's not that much more and the benefits would be many

Question though, on average how much ram and what kind of processor you need to run programs like AutoCAD?
Thinking about downloading it

go for the better processor - its a quad core and throw in 8GB of ram...4Gb wont be enough.
4Gb is just enough to get windows to run but when u start to run programs on windows an such, it consumes resources an then the machine "slows" down

no problems i foresee running it on your system- if u want to be super safe -just throw in a video card and u good to go.

If you're going to be using just basic cad no rendering pc specs can be quite low e.g. i currently have autocad 2010 installed on an old dell dimension (1.5 gb ram, pentium 4 2.66ghz) and it runs fairly ok... not problem free but still gets the gob done.

check their system requirements.

I wouldn't suggest anything less than 8GB if you are using such heavy programs

Fan in my laptop refuses to come on, it keeps overheating and then shuts off. All this happened as soon as I changed the battery to a new one.

No need to worry, if it's a high performance configuration u should expect to change the fan sooner than mainstream /mid range laptops. Some of them supposed to come with a temp sensor and fan controller that spins up and adjusts the fan's rpm according to load like how desktop systems do.

went cheap, paid 215 usd, shouldn't cost more than 1750 ttd after shipping, bought a Asus-X551MAV-RCLN06.

When I ready to build "THE BEAST" I will let you guys know.

Well the fan should last a while since the TDP of that celeron is 7.5w, fan wouldn't have much work to do.

The fan refuses to turn on, it just heats up and powers off. Looks like I'll be sending in for repairs. I tried compressed air and it ain't working.

It was US$67 before Miami. US$83 @Miami. THe price has since drooped to US$60 before Miami. Courier expected to be about tt$100

There are cheaper ones that will do the same work for less, I went with this Antec because the pump which circulated the the cooling fluid is built onto the fan. Most other models and brands has the pump made onto the cpu module. There is no advantage in this arrangement, its just that I wanted a cooler set up like that... And it cost a bit more too.
