Have you all considered that TSTT giving away these phones because they are refurbished, not necessarily factory refurbished by Samsung, and a good number of them may break down within a short time?
And people real going out the way to get one eh...they Dont care about the run around....the workers in the store hiding it for their friends and families

Bmobile does source their phone from ebay/amazon?![]()
Don't you get a warranty when purchasing from the dealer?
I'd rather buy a:
1) Refurbished Note (that looks and feels like new) for $1,000 from the dealer and get a warranty
THAN
2) Buy used Note (that's obviously used) for $500 (impossible price) from a local that gives no warranty
This isn't for the techie wanting the latest and greatest, this is for the bargain hunters who don't mind lagging a generation or two behind with a fully functioning phone that SHOULD last and God forbid it doesn't you simply return to the dealer for a replacement.

I believe you have to leave the phone they give you a replacement one of any model....until the prob is rectified....if the phone can't fix...within the warranty period they give a new phone....correct me if am wrongDizzy28 wrote:pete wrote:Does bmobile honour warranties? Once I had to return the wife early model Galaxy a few years ago. Bought from a dealer in Long Circular but got Bmobile 1 year warranty. Was one set of run around though. The dealer wasn't taking the phone, I had to go to TSTT directly and was a specific location I think PoS - Independence Square. I decided the problem was livable and didn't bother.

I got the iPhone 5 over the Christmas holidays bought it from a dealer, phone started giving problems, ie crashing all the time for no reason even after a factory restore, took it to bmobile on St James Street. Got a replacement Samsung Ace II used it for one week till the called me and replaced my iPhone 5 with a BNIB one...
well saidmaj. tom wrote:no pioneer, no one is saying that that is what is happening right now. Just that TSTT doesn't give away phones like that for half price or they lose a lot of profit. They don't run a charity. If they were selling refurbished phones, no one will know. If they aren't, well good for their rep.
Does the law in Trinidad, like USA or Canada's law, require reconditioned electronics to be legally labeled as such? Why would there be any documentation then if there's no law requiring it? TSTT never used to sell reconditioned CDMA and GSM phones before bmobile?
There is a way to check if newer android phones have been factory refurbished by the manufacturer.
Works on most Android phones that came with 2.3 or higher as the stock OS. (If it doesn't work for you, there are some other hidden stuff like editing /system/build.prop and adding "sys.hiddenmenu.enable=1" and then entering an unlock code. So don't worry about it too much.)
It will not tell if a phone was refurbished if it was not issued a RTN number, which means that it could have been refurbished by anybody. That would mean that it was not reconditioned legally or according to manufacturer's specs. Add a shortcut activity with Launcher Pro and select "com.android.hiddenmenu"
The RTN status will show up with a number.

Also there's nothing wrong with a refurbished phone, but once their labelled like that they lose market value.

same thing I was inferring. They made it a requirement to buy/activate a new sim. At the end of the year they'll claim to have x activations.pete wrote:I think it's more likely Samsung had some excess stock and gave it to bmobile to increase market share and generate some more hype about the brand at the same time.
