who does lens repair? My tamron 70-300 zoom starting to feel stiff as if it wants to stick. It works perfectly other than that though.

Did some shooting this morning, gave the trusty ol' D200 and the tammy 70-300 some exercise.
Saw some birds going through my garbage bags in the driveway, so I took some old pizza crusts and broke it up for them... waited a few mins and started shooting as the lil birdies came to engorge themselves on artery-clogging pricesmart pizza.

Bird-Obesity ftw!!

Any advice on where to get a quality budget tripod? I don't think weight would be a huge factor.

Depends on what you want to shoot. A 50mm f/1.4 is a great lens for portraits and is a beast in low light situations. That is the only other lens I have that is not on your list. The tokina wide angle is great if you need something wide. I do macro with a point and shoot and a mini tripod, but if you really need a macro, that longer lens will be even better for portraits,

Macro with a P&S.. if you really need better quality, by all means get a dedicated macro lens.

50mm on a crop body is the equivalent of 85 on a full frame in field of view.
