The EU's top diplomat has warned that the United States getting involved in the Israel Iran conflict could make things worse

"When it comes to the United States getting involved, then it will definitely drag the region into broader conflict. And this is in nobody's interest," Kallas said in Brussels after hosting a video conference with the EU's 27 foreign affairs ministers.

"And from my call with Secretary of State Rubio, he emphasised that it's also not in their interest to be drawn into this conflict," she added, referring to the conversation she had on Monday with her US counterpart.

"We are constantly pushing to stop this war because the risks (of) escalation and the risks of spillover effect are too great. Also, the risks of miscalculation, which is making this conflict even bigger."

Kallas also weighed in on Trump's stated goal of wanting a "real end" to the conflict that would see Iran giving up its nuclear programme "entirely". The comments appeared to be at odds with the EU's long-held position of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons while permitting civilian uses.

Of the total global inventory of an estimated 12,241 warheads in January 2025.
Russia and the USA together possess around 90 per cent of all nuclear weapons.

In an annual assessment released this week, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute estimated that the nine countries had the following stockpiles of military nuclear warheads as of January: Russia: 4,309; United States: 3,700; China: 600; France: 290; United Kingdom: 225; India: 180; Pakistan: 170; Israel: 90; North Korea: 50.

Trump threatens to kill Iran's leader Ali Khamenei and demands "unconditional surrender”

Donald Trump has demanded Iran’s unconditional surrender saying the US may kill the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Writing on Truth Social, the US President stated: “We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader is hiding”, and described Ayatollah Khamenei as an “easy target”. Mr Trump said: “we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now". He went on to say “our patience is wearing thin”. In another post he demanded Iran's "unconditional surrender".

Mr Trump held a meeting with his national security advisers at the White House as more US warplanes headed for the Middle East. There’s mounting speculation that the US could join Israel directly in its war with Iran, which began five days ago with Israeli attacks on nuclear sites. Israel has said its aim is to prevent Iran building a nuclear weapon. However many of Iran’s nuclear sites are deep underground and only the US has weapons powerful enough to threaten them.

Millions of Iranians have been fleeing the capital Tehran where there have been reports of more explosions, with major roads out of the city gridlocked. Iran warned people in Israel to evacuate the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa.

IRAN
    *2003:
IAEA begins intensive inspections after Iran admits to previously undeclared nuclear activities (e.g., Natanz and Arak).

    *November 2003:
Iran signs the Additional Protocol, allowing more intrusive inspections (implementation was voluntary and later suspended).

    *2006:
Iran resumes uranium enrichment; IAEA refers Iran to the UN Security Council.

    *2009–2011:
IAEA inspectors monitor enrichment at Fordow facility (secret site revealed in 2009).

    *November 2011:
IAEA issues a major report alleging possible military dimensions (PMD) of Iran's program based on intelligence from member states.

    *2013:
Interim deal (Joint Plan of Action) signed; Iran agrees to enhanced access for IAEA.

    *July 2015:
Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed. IAEA receives unprecedented access, including to military site Parchin (under managed conditions).

    *December 2015:
IAEA closes its PMD investigation, confirming past work but no current weapons program.

    *2016–2018:
IAEA issues quarterly compliance reports confirming Iran’s adherence to JCPOA limits.

    *May 2018:
U.S. withdraws from JCPOA; Iran begins scaling back compliance in 2019.

    *2020–2022:
IAEA reports increasing difficulties accessing sites and data due to Iranian limits on cooperation.

    *March 2023:
Iran allows IAEA to reinstall monitoring equipment at key nuclear sites after negotiations.

    *May 2024:
IAEA reports growing stockpile of enriched uranium, some at 60% purity, but no confirmed weapons activity.

ISRAEL
    *1955–1960s:
Under the U.S. Atoms for Peace program, Israel receives nuclear technology (e.g., a small research reactor at Nahal Soreq). This facility is subject to limited IAEA safeguards.

    *1970s–Present:
Israel has allowed safeguards at two small research reactors:
    Soreq Nuclear Research Center (IAEA-inspected).
Negev Nuclear Research Center (Dimona) – does not allow inspection by IAEA.

    *1974:
Israel joins the IAEA as a member state but does not sign the NPT, limiting IAEA access.

    *1980s–2020s:
IAEA conducts routine inspections at Soreq, but no inspections of Dimona, where Israel is believed to produce nuclear weapons material.

    *2022–2024:
IAEA urges Israel to join the NPT and place all its nuclear facilities under full-scope safeguards—Israel declines.

You had mentioned that one before

But lets see...
Other than Israel strongly opposing Iran’s nuclear program and supports IAEA inspections of Iran, while not being a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and refusing IAEA inspections of its own facilities.

there's also
*Israel won't prevent or punish violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, but condemns similar tactics by Palestinians as terrorism.
*Israel enjoys international and UN recognition as a state but is opposed to Palestine’s bid for UN observer state status.
*Israel claims it's a democracy but promotes occupation, gives more rights to illegal settlers, prevents freedom of movement for Palestinians, uses one court system for Israelis and another for Palestinians and won't allow international media into Gaza.
*Claims Hamas uses civilians as human shields but a high court had to ban the IDF from using palestinian civilians as human shields - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2005/oct/07/israel
*Israel ignores multiple UN resolutions, especially those calling its settlements illegal but expects the UN to uphold resolutions on threats to Israeli sovereignty.
*Israel opposed ICC investigations into Israeli actions but appeals to the ICC when Israeli citizens are victims of terror abroad.
*Israel claimed it didn't occupy Gaza but it controls Gaza’s airspace, sea access, population registry, and border crossings and was able to cut water, electricity and food into Gaza overnight.
*Israel claims it has the moral high ground but has government directives to "thin the herd", "mow the lawn", "only feed them enough so they don't die".

May 14th 2025
Iran is ready to sign a nuclear deal with certain conditions with President Donald Trump in exchange for lifting economic sanctions, a top adviser to Iran’s supreme leader told NBC News on Wednesday.

Ali Shamkhani, a top political, military and nuclear adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is one of the most senior Iranian officials to speak publicly about the ongoing discussions.

He said Iran would commit to never making nuclear weapons, getting rid of its stockpiles of highly enriched uranium which can be weaponized, agree to enrich uranium only to the lower levels needed for civilian use, and allow international inspectors to supervise the process, in exchange for the immediate lifting of all economic sanctions on Iran.

Asked if Iran would agree to sign an agreement today if those conditions were met, Shamkhani said, “Yes.”

Secret weapons development is just that secret.

All those links have no explanation by Iran as to why they enriched uranium beyond civilian use. There is only use for such highly enriched uranium. Your NBC link includes a statement from their foreign minister saying they will never stop enriching uranium.

Two things can be right simultaneously .....the nine countries with nuclear weapons are hypocritical when it comes to possession. Well it's probably less than nine since Russia and China assisted some of the remaining 7 in getting and also helped some who reached pretty far and turned back.

But it also can be right that nobody should have any and since you can't take away from the nine we ensure it remains at just that number.

Jets don't intercept missiles. Iron Dome, Patriot, David's Sling, Arrow and THAAD do.

Jets do ground attacks and they definitely were doing those this morning.
