No one says it's not, but there are options that are better for different persons. I for one prefer the bigger screens because I do a lot of reading and browsing on my device, small don't cut it for me, and I need external memory cards and I prefer removable batteries to upgrade to higher capacity when needed. Right now my high capacity battery gives me two full days with heavy usage, wouldn't be able to say that if I had a nexus.

Like I said, different strokes for different folks. Ppl complain about the s3 plastic, I prefer the plastic, more durable and easier and cheaper to replace. It going in a case anyhow.

It boils down to personal preference

Since inception the only android phones I've bought are the nexus models

Don't care for the S4

I'll upgrade my nexus 4 when the nexus 5 comes out

I don't really see the point of filling up a phone when I store most of my data in the cloud, easily accessed any time I want it. I figure that's the way Google (and others) are heading.

However I've been using it all day, BBM music FB etc connected to wifi and its been fine. Going out later so I'll see again and well..I guess time's up for it if it continues.

Y'all really putting this faith in the cloud. Well I hope you guys never travel... because I'd love to get a copy of your data bill!

I'm sure roaming data on that 7 day vacation in the states won't cost that much-go ahead live a little :D

enter recovery mode and do the factory reset with data wipe option should be ok. unless ur memory/flash is messed up or something.

cable tv app might be cool for news, but i stream seasons on everything else. do ppl still watch tv btw? lol

hmm well u might need to contact the manufacturer for the flash file so u can reflash manually from sdcard or pc via usb cable. if it boots and shows logo it's not bricked, unless ur memory chip storing the data itself is bad or something.

did u try the factory reset from within android or did u do it via the recovery menu before the tablet boots up? these can have different results sometimes. sometimes a factory reset doesnt go all perfect and a second or even 3rd reset completes properly.

Lol unintentional pun guys but seriously... One small vacation with your family/gf/buddies and the sheer number of pics and vids will cripple that "I live in the cloud" argument.

500 pics is nothing to do in a day when sight seeing.

Any of you using a phone without a notification light for any messages received/missed calls? I was playing around with a Galaxy S2 and was really surprised at this. Why would they do this!!

Also read that there's none on a few popular phones out there from Samsung as including the Google Nexus S. This is a really bad design flaw from Samsung imo, especially since Motorola and other phones had notification LEDs on their phones coming out at that time. I'm so used to the convenience of Motorola's designs.

BLN has a work-around for only a few models, but what a trip to get there! New kernel and new ROM the risk of another flash. The phone I just bought Samsung Captivate Glide is great but just that one irk; it has no BLN support. Suggestions from/for those use a phone without a notification led? Conserving battery life must factor in.

While everyone's use case is different, the cloud is where mobile computing is going, it just takes some people a lot longer to get used to it, a few years ago, people were complaining about screen size, look at us now, the people who complain about screen size are in the minority

Also, some confuse what the cloud really is, it's not a place where everything is stored, it's a place you store everything that you may need access to, occasionally, but not constantly, in your use case, you talked about 500 pictures in one day, okay, upload that to the cloud, free the space on your device, because I am sure that after taking the 500 pictures today, you're not going to sit and watch the 500 pictures tomorrow and the day after and so forth, so storing them on your device is wasting space, I have access every picture that I have taken with separate phones over the past few years, and I can get to it in a few minutes max.

The next beautiful thing about cloud storage has to do with changing devices, and also with using multiple devices, if your phone with your 500 sight seeing pictures is lost or stolen, what do you do then, it's all gone, not so, if you were using the cloud, then all you do is, get another device, log into your respective cloud services, and you now have access to all of your stuff

What if you took a picture and you wanted to make some edits, are you going to sit on your phone and do this when there is a tablet or a PC a few feet away, with the cloud, you can take a picture with you phone, it syncs to the cloud, you then take up your tablet and download said picture and make the edits there, since it's more screen real estate to work with.

I have my Dropbox account set up to sync when on WiFi only, so I can take pictures, once I get home, turn on WiFi, all my pictures etc syncs to Dropbox, which then syncs to my PC, and I now have access to every picture I took with my phone, and I didn't really do anything

There are a lot more advantages of cloud computing, and there will also be disadvantages, but it is well worth the effort to adapt it, and only when you make it work for you, you see all the real benefits of it, for your use case.

Also, just because one uses the cloud doesn't mean one uses a lot of mobile data, all cloud syncing apps that I use have the option to sync only over WiFi, and some even have the option of only syncing when on WiFi and charging, it's up to the user when the data syncs

Don't confuse cloud computing with streaming services, I'm on Digicel, and I get by with 2 Gigs of data easily, and I stream a lot of Music

that is not so special. in fact there was cloud services before it was lambaised with bs hypermarketting and called the cloud. but as much as it is a good OPTIONAL service, the fact is.. the industry is forcing it on users. the direction is definitely one where eventually, not even your operating system will be on ur device/pc, but because of general resistance to the cloud they have slowed that project. everyone's going to need a constant internet connection for full cloud computing and not everyone will.

i dislike especially how it's all up in ur face every 2 minutes, something about use the cloud, setup ur cloud, everytime i plug in my phone to my pc etc. i already said no, but it keeps nagging and insisting u use this stupid cloud. then there is the issue of cloud server policy on the files stored.. are the files the property of the user? or the property of the company running the server.

imagine cloud stipulated computing in a communist country or other dictatorship. everyone is on the cloud, including inventors and those conducting private research. how private is their work? it all depends on the terms of service u agree to when u click to use the cloud. it may not happen now, but the server company could legally own all ur research and documentation before u even complete it, steal it, sell it etc.

in my view they trying to force this cloud too hard and that is suspect. fine, let me choose whether and what i want to store on the cloud, but if u give this industry a chance they would have everyone run basically dumb terminals that stream all their data from cloud servers.

nude pictures of ur girl? property of the server. even if u delete it off the cloud and can no longer access a copy from there the server wont delete it. it will be stored somewhere out of reach, but would seem to u as if it was deleted.

it has it's uses, but y force it on the industry in everything? xbox was going to make a fully cloud computing console.. no harddrive! meaning internet or die. but it's consumer resistance that slowed that project as they admitted it was not yet feasible for console sales as not everyone yet has a highspeed internet connection.. and that's the only deterrent. they want to make sure everyone is on the internet first and then take away our local computing storage so everything will be on their servers.

im old skool. and that is not security. backup security (when optional) is fine. but do not start making all future devices so i have to play down to my mp3s off the cloud. to that end i will continue to post hard and harsh critique of the cloud on the internet to slow this forceful transition and maintain optional cloud computing for those things we choose to backup on the cloud. not everything.
