Certainly will, does net speed take a hit with tv usage?

Data usage is not impacted by tv viewing.
TV runs as a separate service, so depending on the underlying cause a tv outage could occur and Internet is unaffected.

How are Digicel's bundles so much cheaper than flow?!
Play fast 199
Play loud 289

Sorcery? Or are they locking you into some long ass contract?

Digicel coming by me today to install. My man cave has at least three devices that I'd prefer have a direct connection to the modem. Would I need to buy a router? Any recommended routers available in pricesmart?
Thanks

The Ping to Miami with Digicel is still 85ms+ yes. freaking dogshit. If anyone else sees this as a problem, please let digicel know!!! All the people who are now getting digicel for the first time and think 85ms Ping to miami is normal i want to let you know that it isnt! For the first 11 months of having digicel i had a constant 40ms ping to Miami, which is freaking amazing, but for the past 2 months it just went down the freaking drain.

Really now! Flow getting on. I was on flow and got like 80-120 to Miami. Varied a lot.

They are working on the high pings to Miami, I hear. All traffic being routed through New York currently.

Don't think we might stick with the cable, the interface is pretty hard for my grandfather to get around and no westerns lol.

The TV interface is hard to navigate?

I'm willing to try the internet service for now. I'd consider the TV as well however it says they need to run their own fiber lines right through. The place is already internally wired with copper and I don't feel like drilling up the walls right now just for tv.

Compared to flow yes imo, the channels span a big range from single to thriple digits with unsubbed channels in between. So it's up to setting categories of content to access stuff quickly unless you learn off your fav channels. It's also not as responsive as flow in terms of browsing through the guide and info.

Good to know.. will stick to Flow for now, but with their impending price increase, I finding it harder and harder to justify paying for their service considering the shitty selection.

If you have a bundle with flow, prices won't change. Well so I was told.

After having used DirectTV, Flow, Blink Internet and Digicel Play (haven't tried Massy, or Blink's IPTV) here's my honest review.

Digicel Play - 4/5

Pros
+ TV Quality is on bar with the best (DirectTV)
+ Definitely the best value for money
+ Mostly* incredible internet speeds, almost always get the promised 50mbps down and 25mbps up to international servers.
+ Incredible ping times too so basically no lag in online gaming
+ Channel selection on Play is quite good, perhaps the best but that is always subjective

Cons
- Internet speed, while the best have some weird speed drops. One can only assume it's some sort of random or maintenance issues since it occurs at all hours. It's also been more frequent lately, occurring about 3 times for ~30 mins each in the last 2 weeks. And it doesn't affect every site, so it's certainly something in their internal routing
- TV Interface is slow and sluggish. Would have been five if this came out 5 years ago, but I expect a more modern and responsive TV Guide interface.
- TV box system is sometimes buggy has hangs occasionally

Blink Internet 2.5
Pros
+ Possibly most consistent connection with very little breakdowns
+ Widely available
Cons
- Slow as f*ck compared to everyone else
- Poor value for money compared to the others, their most expensive 10Mbit connection pales in comparison to Flow and Digicel

Flow 3.5/5
Pros
+ Widely available
+ Decent channel selection
+ Overall good internet speeds
+ Decent value overall, but Digicel Play is perhaps slightly cheaper in every categoroy
+ Customer Support is not bad

Cons
- Customer support is inconsistent
- Also is the internet speed. Frequent timeouts, sometimes horrendous ping times, and very inconsistent speeds.
- TV Quality is the worst! Sometimes unwatchable due to pixelations and gaps (like direct tv in the rain)

Direct TV 4/5
Pros
+ Best TV Quality
+ Most channels
+ TV receiver interface is by far the best and most responsive!
+ Available practically everywhere

Cons
- Expensive as f*ck for anything decent
- Too much f8*cking Spanish!
