Yep that should work fine, does the same job and it's cheaper.

That has some LCD issues that occur after sometime. I think your better of paying a little more for the recon.

I heard that too and some models even light up on fire according to user reviews

The old school 'knob' is 'supposed' to give less trouble like the scythe kaze master ii/pro or nzxt sentry mesh even though there are also lots of negative reviews.

I was going to get the sentry mesh because it would blend in nice with my case, but now I really feeling to put some fancy lights on the front so I looking at the Gelid Speedtouch 6.
Just waiting for some reviews first. :?

never heard of that controller will check it out. I am a big fan of gelid fans. I use them as well with noctua. Quiet and lots of air flow.

Went ahead and bought the Sentry 2, I'm not going to be fiddling with the controls all the time so the LCD shouldn't give trouble early on. The reviews I read weren't too bad and I didn't see anything about fire. Will let you all know how it works out....

fair enough, not enough to convince me though, with electronics there is always a chance that there would be failure. The controller is for my extra fans and they are low performance, my cpu liquid cooler and its fans will stay connected to my motherboard

Yup, my problem was the LCD dims and the fans eventually loses power. The touch function on the LCD was useless as well.

Basically all those articles i posted has to be either defective product or to much overclocking... There are alot of good reviews on the sentry 2 though...

Yup, I spent a lot of time going through reviews for the past few days. With any electronic device there is the reality it could come DOA or defective, should get it by wednesday or thursday

I had an external seagate 500gb that failed for no reason and couldn't recover anything. Another had an issue that came up on the pc as 'reformat disk' so I would consider something else. Just my experiences. Maybe others had good luck with them. Currently I have a aftermarket external case with a western digital laptop hd. And it's been working about 2 years no problems.

My WD external bought in 2011 or thereabouts still going strong too. Bout it in the US but I think I will source my next one locally for warranty purposes

same here, I use primarily WD drives as to this date I have only had 1 failure in about 12 drives however, the segates it may of just been bad luck but 2 out of 5 failed I haven't tried them since.
