Cro cro in my view weaponized calypso and it started in the Panday era. He got away and was rewarded for so long that he became emboldened and crossed that invisible line.

Calypso for over two decades is more about pnm grassroots sentiment than general public sentiment. It is rare for a calypso being critical of the pnm making it to the finals. If it does, more than likely a "nation building" song would win.

It's more the hate towards cro cro since he is one of the main protagonists in the we vs dem.

Inshan has to be given credit. When cro cro was weaponizing calypso, nobody legally challenged him. For decades people just had mouth until Inshan put money where his mouth is and sue him. Now if people feel the same way about what Inshan has said, they need to take action instead of mouthing off on facebook or calling 91.9fm crying oh how is the end of calypso and african people in trouble.

Calypso is a social commentary instrument originally invented to speak against the ruling class, it is not music, hence you will never see anyone dance to it or hear it played in a party, club or even in a maxi. In today's society where people are more aware of their legal rights and more things are now being considered as offensive calypso out to be allowed to die a natural death and live in the memory of a time gone by where people reminisce about the 'good ol days'.
There's a reason Ravi B, Machael, KI, Kess etc never got sued for defamation and are millionaires while cro cro probably looking to throw a Jerk Q to raise funds
