i say let liverpool sell him for about 35mil, use that money and invest in some bright promising young players to partner Suarez and Gerrard.

Not enough quality in Liv side atm to challenge for anything.

Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson Likens Wayne Rooney & Dimitar Berbatov To Cole & Yorke Partnership
Scot happy with pair's contribution this season

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes his strike partnership of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov can emulate the success of former Old Trafford heroes Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

Rooney scored two goals in the 3-1 win against Aston Villa earlier this week to take his tally to the season to five.

And while he is a long way behind Berbatov's 19 goal haul this season, Ferguson is not worried, believing that the collective goal return more than makes up for any individual shortcomings.

In his column for the Manchester United match day programme, Ferguson said: "Some of our critics are making a meal out of the fact that Wayne is lagging behind in the goal stakes.

"He is, compared with the bucketload he scored last year, but I am not worried.

"It's the scoring partnership that matters and the combination between our two front men has improved beyond all recognition.

"Last season Wayne benefited from Dimitar's work but this year it is Berbatov who is enjoying the last touch."

And Ferguson believes the partnership is now similar to the celebrated pairing of Yorke and Cole, who helped shoot the club to the treble in 1999.

Ferguson added: "If we finish the season with Berbatov scoring 30 and Wayne on 10 - and those are the targets I have in mind - I will be more than happy.

"That's what I call a successful strike partnership, reminiscent of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke, and you know what we won when they were hot."
