That car took out a wall and the airbag didn't even deploy. Serious structural integrity or defective/removed airbag? You be the judge.

Do they deploy only if a passenger is in seat?

The airbag for the passenger seat could have been turned off, you can do it manually if you have a child seat etc, anyways it was pretty much toots driving that caused the accident and not a non-deployed airbag. people hadda understand their & their cars capability in different conditions and we would have stupid accidents like this.

Child seats are not supposed to be in the front seat anyway, ever. If the child is big enough for the front seat, one has to use the seatbelt there. So no one would deactivate the airbag for that reason.

Buckle all children ages 12 and under in the back seat. Airbags can kill young children riding in the front seat. Never place a rear-facing car seat in front of an airbag.
https://www.cdc.gov/features/passengers ... ont%20seat.

It's a computer logic circuit that determines if to deploy an airbag with a certain number of conditions having to be met.

So it's entirely possible for an airbag to not be deployed even in what we may consider a serious accident. The most important feature of safety is the seatbelt, since airbags are defined as supplementary safety devices.

Is a sad fact of life that when a car becomes the people's car it does usually be the cause of accidents.

Waiting to see how much mayhem the $125 Hyundai will cause.
