but 'breed'.....I am using water straight from the pipe & enjoy the same hatching rate as when I use stale water.........
I think that using pipe water assists in keeping the hatching container free of fungal/bacterial buildup which will fcukup the newly hatched....

That thing on the side is a piece of sheet metal that usually has a sticker that has the details of the previous contents. I sold one of these three weeks ago, already cleaned and conditioned for $250.

fill with tap water & leave outside for 2-3 weeks. Add water change waste to container as u have it & when u see green algae start to grow...........IT'S CONDITIONED....!!!
.
Above is the simple statement of the leeching process u go through to make sure the walls don't hve chemicals which are detrimental to yr fish....if algae don't grow...YOU HAVE A PROBLEM (with the container).
.
the best ibc tanks to get are the ones that had soap concentrate of any biodegradable stuff. They are abt 250 gals.

Anyone ever used microworms to feed their fry?
If so, how can I get a starter culture?

generally a gravid female goldfish will show a slight protuberance from the genital area when she becomes receptive for spawning. Apart from that (not her obviously laden egg sacs), no way to guess if she's 'ready' to spawn.
.
you should keep your breeding females serarate from the males....once a female starts to become receptive, those males will mercilessly chase her down.
.
keeping females separate also allows you to feed specialised conditioning foods for maximum, healthy egg production...& PHYSICALLY STRONG BREEDING STOCK.
.
