Oh gorm if you launching yuh manifesto late at least make it better. The content is drivel, keith has been photoshopped to look like a fat old man. And the graphic design is piss poor, I've done far more impressive layouts in indesign with very little effort.

Back to the content the lack of specifics measurable goals is incredible. I criticized the PP one just for that, but this PNM one is surprisingly worse.

They say manifestos are a promise to a fool. Well I can barely figure one any promises in this, its mostly a bunch of buzzwords that mean nothing.

the lack of effort in graphic design combined with it being so late is a huge reminder of PNM's incompetence. I'm already seeing local graphics designers and photographers (some who are outspoken PNMites) laughing at this atrocious effort.

Does anyone in the PPG or any of their supporters really know what "policy" means?

All kicks aside, someone please direct me to a POLICY developed by the PPG in their term of office.

The management process can basically be broken down into the following primary functions:
1) Planning
2) Programming
3) Preparation
4) Operations

The PPG in their five year term have been operating at the Preparation and Operations levels. They have done no true planning and programming to chart this country's future. They have been riding off the planning and programming done by past administrations (PNM and NAR) and giving the public a set of ad hoc mis-managed projects to show that they are "performing".

Mind you, the PNM did their crap also with respect to corruption, but at least they were able to operate at the planning and programming stages. Other than the Gene Miles statue fiasco, in my opinion, the NAR was the one administration who truly set this country back on to a path of positive growth after the recession in the early to mid 1980s. It can be argued that they were forced by the IMF to make the hard and fast decisions, but at least they had the courage to still do it.

The PPG uses their power and intimidation to take advantage of the population, more-so than the PNM ever did.

You make a well intentioned point. However, the reality is that the effects and benefits of a good policies take at least 10 years to see effect. No government is going to spend time focusing on effective policies due to its low political currency. However, the previous government may have had some policies, they neglected certain key infrastructure and basic needs. Hence, when PP came into power, they literally had to spend at least half of their focus righting the wrongs committed by PNM. The reality is government spending on basic utilities such as water, road, telecom and health have been historically disproportionately distributed to north and particularly west Trinidad. . The biggest shock was when I saw that government run (not owned mind you) TSTT has spent almost 7 times more per-person (for last mile access) for districts in west vs south and east Trinidad, and those were excluding shared infrastructure such as switching centers and the international fiber. And the same trend was seen for all state enterprises which leads to a large discrepancy in access to public goods.

People who say PP has done nothing for the country need to take a drive Central and South....PP has f*cking delivered more than anyone could have imagined in those areas.

It is also wrong to say PP has put forth no policy, it is quite the opposite and as far as I'm aware all key ministries such as Transport, Education, Planning and Energy have very detailed and updated policies. Take a look at the PP manifesto, you'll see brief descriptions of each as well as an execution plan.

Last comment wrt to Policy's is that, yes they're good to have, but it's very inefficient to waste all your focus on finding a perfect policy. Governments need to strike a balance between long term policy (when necessary) and being dynamic. Take a read of “How Google Works,” by Eric Schmidt and Jonathan Rosenberg. You'll understand that this isn't systematic of governments but all corporations that get caught up on bureaucracy and planning rather than execution.

Nah I love how they cancelled the smelter and the other industries approved and invested in La Brea Industrial Estate in lieu of ship building that would usher in the much talked about diversification of the economy.

They in power, they can proclaim the act, they don't need PNM approval. That is a silly excuse.

It's like the husband who beat and oppressed his wife for 40 years. She leaves him for a better man but after 5 years he comes begging and crawling back, saying he has changed.
Sadly, we know, all too well, how these stories end for the woman, if she takes him back.
