Why so many streetlights though? Too many things to hit if you run off the road IMHO.

The magnetism of lamp posts is undeniable :-)

Oropouche Junction to Charlie King Junction via the new "highway" is longer by about half a kilometer vs the original route. The original route has much more turns and taxi drivers to deal with however.

All cars have headlights so none should have a problem driving without streetlights at night. If anything reflectors should have been put all along the highway. Waste of electricity and makes it less safe if someone were to run off the road.

Some people just want to see the world burn don't they....lol.. Much safer to illuminate the road as most drivers overdrive their headlights. Go google the term then let us discuss "Over driving Headlights" and let us discuss.

doesn't seem out of the ordinary. The pic itself might make it seem like they're tightly packed, but considering that there are no other light sources, and that every white line is supposed to be 3 meters long, i think it makes sense.

In the SC, the #1 cause of vehicular deaths of vehicular deaths are cars running off the road and impacting with trees. this is so because you cannot cut down trees within 10 feet of a highway.
The lamposts provide the same risks as trees. The ministry or whomever decided that we use streetlights every how much ever feet. I guess it's now standard for them. But these lights aren't necessary. reflectors and even retroreflective paint can be used which are both common on many US highways.

Personally I think we in trinidad need these lights because of how we drive because I'm afraid of what may happen if they weren't there.

If everyone just drive slowly then the effect of the cross wind would not be so severe...you would be able to maintain control of your vehicle.

This video was shot in Debe, South Trinidad, near to the embankment that is being built for the Debe to Mon Desir highway, on July 19th and 20th, 2015.

For years the Highway Reroute Movement has warned the Government and NIDCO about the potential for flooding disasters if a 12 feet embankment is constructed across the Oropouche lagoon. To date, no hydrology study of the wetland has been done.

PNM areas still got fixed under PP.
PNM just don't want to acknowledge the good work for all.
