Gonna try this in a couple days.

so, yesterday i got about 50 tilipia and put them in a half of 400 gallon tank. i have a small submersible pump about 250gph. i had about thirty cuscurub in there but they were gasping for air so i bought the pump hoping it could stimulate the water a bit. btw only the small tilapia is there now. the guy i bought the tilipia from said i shouldnt mix any other fish with it, even though i wanted to buy a mamatater. any advice guys?

NOT fibreglass...pressure will slough it off....
Rotoplastics (or Century Eslon ?) hve a contractor guy who they send to your place to assess & repair damaged tanks. He's 'expensive'...usually $400 & up...to repair a tank, but does a good job.
might be worth yr while to give them a call

you've got to put in an air line.........
'cuscurub' is a cichlid ...tilapia cousin...no probs living together along with a couple 'mamatater'....
u need a second 400-gal tank to divide that many tilapia half per tank - a 400-gal will only grow out approx 25 fish to table size & that is under optimum conditions of feed/water quality....
the bucket filter system is good....one per tank (or TWO if u r ambitiously conscientious )

You have a very long waiting list. When they call you, you just have a few hrs to pick or it goes to the next person on the list. The list mustbe get shorter now

not those 'collapsed' tanks that they cut in half & sell....they actually making items called 'Aquatanks' in various colours/sizes...I took a green 380gal item to connect to my recirculating system as a reserve tank.....there are bigger sizes...this green one cost $499 (I think).
Pay them a visit & see the items to properly decide what u want to do.

basically, if u don't hve a battery backup setup, u just have to say yr prayers for current to come back QUICK !!!
If u aerating efficiently enough, they should be relatively safe for about 4hrs - don't keep inspecting them to see if they're o.k. because the movements will only agitate them, then they use up scarce oxygen, begin to suffocate......vicious cycle...

a 'battery pack' (jumpstarter)& inverter (cheapest because it's only the airpump) to run your air pump is sufficient.
or
say yr prayers for current to come back QUICK !!!
