I know someone who was in an accident and wasn't wearing the seatbelt and the airbag deployed in an accident. The car was a Nissan Sunny (N16).

Seatbelts do not need to be worn by the occupant for an airbag to deploy on many vehicles. There are sensors on the passenger side of some vehicles to prevent airbag deployment if the passenger seat is not occupied. The absence of seatbelt usage diminishes the effectiveness of an airbag in most collisions.

The regulations of the original market dictates how the supplemental restraint system operates.

Driver shot dead in Glencoe

Police are investigating a shooting incident in Glencoe, in which one man has been killed.

The incident is said to have occurred just before 4 pm Thursday at Highland Plaza.

The victim was at the time driving a vehicle which subsequently crashed into part of the plaza's food court.

We'll have more information when we get it.
