Whats you guys' thoughts?
Purchased the 8" version last December. I must say I am astonished at its performance. Got it on special for $900 at a hardware in St Helena. So far i have chopped up the following for a couple projects.
20 lengths - 1x4x14 DTPP
24 lenghs - 1x4x12 Green Heart
6 lengths - 2x2x10 RTPP
4 lengths - 2x4x10 DTPP
2 lengths - 1x3x12 DTPP
Some 2" PVC Sch 40
It never missed a beat. The power delivery is very good. The precision is good. I have no regrets. I was previously a brand name tool man (Dewalt, Bosch etc). This is my first Chinese tool from Total and I am blown away.
Just one of the projects.... still to varnish

With the more solid wood, did the motor strain or was it powerful enough to go through? Cutting normal 2x4 and 1" soft wood eat, but it's when you hadda use it for projects with harder wood.Gladiator wrote:*KRONIK* wrote:Total mitre saw for 1k,

The one I have cut the greenheart with no trouble whatsoever. I was surprised since the drill bits giving trouble to go through that hard wood.
The joints I used was basic butt joints. Nothing fancy, but it came out strong and looked good also. The sink station is for outside bbq etc etc...
Have to teach myself to do the pocket holes with the Kreg jig...

You using regular steel bits to drill or the ones with the pointed tip or the one with the slot (can't remember the proper names)
I had to practice with the pocket hole jig, if you using thick wood it won't be a big issue, but I used it on ⅝" MDF, so had to test for distance from the end, and then depth of the bit to make sure it has enough shoulder to hold on and the screw doesn't come out the side of the other wood.
With 1" wood and above, it's easy

Wonder is good but you hadda be careful how you handling that chemical, if it's very minor, you know the iron remover (like Maguire's ultimate wheel cleaner) that works to clean minor rust

Yeah wonder... leave it to dry. it removes the rust, etches the metal and forms a protective layer. You can also just paint on the dried surface after a cleaning with a hard brush.

Any recommendations for where I can get a decent effluent pump to use in a septic and soakaway system redo?
What places can I check and are there any brands that I should consider or avoid?
