Today I learned that

1 mm of rainfall is 1000 metric tons of water per square kilometer.
https://water.usgs.gov/edu/activity-howmuchrain-metric.html

So you can use that calculator to estimate how much water you can rain barrel collect from your roof gutters given the rainfall height measured at the nearest weather station.

TTMET office on strike?

For what exactly?

They want more money for doing what?

Steups, leave them right there we don’t need them. Hire people who want to work and could work, fire the rest.

Regards,

Max (tax payer)

From yesterday. What going on with the Met Office?

Caribbean Airlines (CAL) is advising of disruptions to its operations today (July 28, 2023).

In a notice, the airline said it has been advised that due to manpower constraints at the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS), weather information to facilitate the completion of essential flight documents is unavailable.

As such, Caribbean Airlines' flights into and out of Piarco International Airport, Trinidad are currently delayed, as no services are able to depart or land.

aaron,

What ever the TTMET says, just go with the opposite.

And they want a raise for the incompetence?

I don’t know…. Maybe They possibly probably was on practice strike action all this time. If we give them a raise maybe possibly probably prove they will do better weather predicting. Using AI

shouldn't Met Office have issued a Heat Advisory yesterday?

https://ttweathercenter.com/2023/08/03/hot-temperatures-continue-across-tt/

Image

Image
Maximum high heat indices recorded across Trinidad and Tobago as of 5:00 PM Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 (Data: Individual and Personal Weather Stations, as well as Automated Weather Stations from the TTMS)

some of those temps (the 1st one) are above the threshold for a Hot Spell which is 34C- and that was 4pm, not even 12-1pm which is the hottest time of the day!

some areas even hit 38.9C! actual temperature not heat index which was even higher

ppl cud be falling down on d street from heat stress- all those red dots are DANGER

I think they need to start using data from various stations instead of just Piarco.
