A Masjid (Mosque) is a place where the 5x daily prayers are established with a congregation. Compare this with a musallah, which is a prayer area, like in some offices, restaurants, airports, etc. An Imaam in the general sense, is someone who leads the prayer in a valid Masjid (ie, where the 5x daily prayers occur). You can't for instance have an Imaam of a musallah. In vary rare instances (in history), great scholars of Islaam are given the honorific title, "Al-Imaam", like al-Imaam ibn Taymiyyah. That's not the situation here, obviously.

Regarding those who make mischief in the land, who promote ISIS and gangs, etc, Allaah says:
