They're all the same. I've tried having an argument with a few. After I stated the vast number of advantages Android has over iOS, it came down to "It doesn't matter, Apple has more class than Android." Also, because it's more expensive, it's better.

Apple could design the crappiest product in the world but they'd worship it and say it's the best because there is an Apple logo on it.

I find it funny and ironic that people buy iPhones and jailbreak them to basically convert it to an Android phone

NYT: Samsung Galaxy S IV will tout eye-based scrolling

Image

One of the Galaxy S III's most vaunted features was Smart Stay: when it was active, the smartphone's display would stay awake as long as its owner did. A reported Samsung insider's tip to the New York Times claims the Galaxy S IV will take that intelligent use of the camera one step further with eye-based scrolling. Theoretically, readers will never have to put finger to glass when scrolling downwards; the phone can tell when they're looking at the bottom of the page and move to the next section on its own. The hands-off scrolling is supposedly part of a strategy where the software ultimately matters more than the hardware. Chief product officer Kevin Packingham wouldn't confirm anything for the newspaper when asked, although he didn't feel the hardware will take a back seat. Either way, consider us intrigued -- as long as the software is real, and works in practice. We'll know the full story in several days.

Latest rumoured specs:

Exynos 5 Octa 5410 chipset
4.99 inches of Screen Size
PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU
Quad Core 1.8GHz Processor
2GB RAM
PPI of 441
13MP Rear Camera, 2.1MP Front Facing Camera
NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi Fi ac/ b / g/ n
Jellybean 4.2 Firmware out of the Box

There's a Nokia with a 42 mp cam, shouldn't be the only reason you buy a phone.

They already addressed at CES that the processor would be only working with the cores it is needed or something like that to save battery life. Only when the full 8 cores are needed it would be in use, but if you're using the phone on whatsapp or something it wouldn't use the full cores .... something so he say

Bmobile or digicel? It's the APN. There is none. You need to re-enter it. Go in settings>more>mobile networks>access point names and add the APN specific to your network.

For bmobile -

username - *anything *
APN- bconnected

Leave everything else as is.

For digicel same procedure except I *think* the APN is web.digiceltt.com

Leaked Screenshots from the Samsung Galaxy SIV

Image

The leak brigade has been busy leaving trails of the Samsung Galaxy S4 here and there. Earlier today, we got a first glimpse of the phone’s smart scroll feature, though apparently it’s from a leaked Galaxy S3 ROM.

A little over a week from the official unveiling of the Galaxy S4, we now have some purported screenshots from the flagship phone, which show the main homescreen (and the ever-present TouchWiz UI), settings, device information, and more.

Image

The screenshots seem to confirm the specs of the device, such as its (almost) 5-inch full HD display (440 ppi!) and quad-core processor, which will apparently be clocked at around 1.8GHz. Other bit of information that we can deduct from the leaked pictures — not shown above — is that it will have a 13MP camera.

As expected, the S4 will come preloaded with a chock-full of Smart features. Some of the newest additions include smart rotation and smart scroll. You can see the rest of the screenshots at the source.

Inevitably, there will be more leaks heading our way as we near March 14, though it’s unlikely that we’ll see how the device looks like in real life. In the mean time, don’t forget to check out our Galaxy S4 rumor roundup.

Ehhhhh #NotImpressed
If Samsung pull an Apple and release some phone with basically no real upgrades, I'm gonna be pissed, I won't buy the S4 if it's not worth the upgrade.

EDIT:

Image

I could be wrong but it seems that smart scroll automatically scrolls when your eyes are on the screen and doesn't scroll based on where your eyes are on the document you're reading ... which isn't as amazing as I thought it was when I first heard of this feature lol but it's still alright

Why Android Takes Forever to Get Cool Apps

Share Tweet

Leslie Meredith for TechNewsDaily 14 hours ago

Even though there are more Android phones than iPhones in the United States, the number and variety of Android apps lags compared to Apple's offerings. For instance, Android users had to wait a year before they got Instagram or Pinterest apps. New research helps explain why.

There's got to be more to the story than the number of phones. Flurry, a mobile-app analytics firm, released a report this week that helps explain the problem, laying out the challenges app developers face. It also shows that Android apps are unlikely to catch up and that small developers coding for either device will get squeezed out of the market.

For app developers to make a decent living, they have to sell 50 apps an hour, 24 hours a day, for $1 each, Johan Emil Johansson, a developer in Sweden, said in a blog post outlining the difficult conditions facing today's app developers. New app versions are expensive to make, especially in light of the proliferation of devices.

App developers have long had to grapple with an overwhelming number of connected devices. Flurry counted 331 different models of smartphones and tablets that developers would have to code for if they wanted make their apps available on about 90% of devices.

Too ambitious? If developers can content themselves with only 50% of devices in use, the programmers would still have to make versions for 18 different models. And the complexity doesn't stop there; developers must also adjust apps for different operating systems. For instance, any iPhone 4 user could be running iOS 4, iOS 5 or iOS 6.

But iOS still represents fewer phone and operating system combinations than does Android . And fewer combinations means less development work and testing for cash-strapped programmers.

Flurry also found an even bigger incentive to make an iOS app rather than one for Android: More people will use the apps, and more often.

"Device models running on the iOS platform average 14 times the number of active users compared to device models running on other platforms," Mary Ellen Gordon, a Flurry analyst, said in a blog post.

In other words, one iPhone user is worth 14 Android users , based on how frequently the apps get used.

And even when Flurry isolated Samsung, the most popular Android device maker, one iOS user was still worth seven Samsung users.

Manufacturers will continue to make new devices in the hopes of standing out from competitors. The last year alone has seen the explosion of the "phablet ," a phone the size of a small tablet. And the operating system mix of old and new will grow even more complex.

So much for the whiz kid with a quirky, brilliant app idea, like 14-year-old Robert Nay who created Bubble Ball.

"Putting all of this together, we expect a future in which app developers are less frequently individuals with a creative idea and a laptop, and more frequently companies designed to develop, produce and distribute apps at scale," Flurry said.

Maybe this will resolve the problem when I turn on mobile data it switching the radio on and off

BTW, Jellybean was much much much better than ICS IMHO.

No change to the mobile data problem :|

When I turn it on it keeps cycling between having cell coverage and no sim being installed. Doesn't really matter to me as I use a digi MiFi hotspot for data.
