As commented previously, the SCOTUS ruling was expected by everyone who was versed with that law and argument presented from the Colorado Supreme Court.

Once again, this lawsuit had nothing to do with Democrats, it was Republicans themselves who filed the lawsuit.




The unanimous decision was that individual States can only apply 14th Amendment, Section 3 to elected State officials, not Federally elected officials.

There were 4 written opinions against the clause that only Congress can enforce it by legislation which perhaps means that Section 3's enforcement will have to be decided by a separate case in the future.

Judge dismisses 6 counts of Trump's Georgia election interference indictment

A Georgia judge ruled Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis can stay on the election interference case against former President Donald Trump if special prosecutor Nathan Wade is removed. Trump's attorneys said a romantic relationship between Willis and Wade created a conflict of interest and argued she should be dismissed from the case. A judge found there wasn't enough evidence to indicate a conflict of interest but said the appearance of impropriety needed to be addressed. The ruling could delay the case against Trump, which was originally set to be tried in August.
