well I watch it the whole thing

The most interesting part was when JW asked about her joining the coalition to get the PNM out of office. Mikela says she would need any coalition to be based on mutual policy and solutions. She brings up specifically her plan to end the lottery system for HDC housing, contrasting to the UNC policy of keeping the lottery.

That is an interesting idea. I looked on the party website (https://thepatrioticfront.com/) to find more details on her party's proposal, but didn't find any more information on there. There isn't much information at all there on policy.

JW brought up the point about needing to get back to 1986 when everybody joined together to get the PNM out of power. Mikela and her supporters are entitled to their independence, but come on fellas, we can't make any solutions actionable until everybody is on the same side. Otherwise is Hinds, Imbert, and Rowley continuing to run the show and all this talk going to stay talk.

This is the eternal problem with seeking to coalesce for the sole purpose of removing the PNM, we’ve lived this now several times over the past 4 decades. Opposition parties get together, remove the PNM and barely last 1 term in office and why, because there are fundamental policy differences between the groups that lead to fracture while in government. Can’t make meaningful change in T&T in only 1 term and we know that. Do they know that?

She will pull more overall votes than PEP and NTA. She might win a seat if she try Couva North based on her name alone and the incumbent is a WOFT.

I better warm up my election prediction, it was pretty spot on for 2020.

Rowley puts PNM, T&T on election stand-by
‘We will beat them’

“I ask you to stand by and wait for the call because, in the middle of the night, the dawn may not be too far away. Ladies and gentlemen, whenever they are ready, THA election, by-election, general election, we will beat them,” Rowley said.

Wouldn't be surprised if general election is called this year.

Nah.

They have the winds on their back from the local govt by election win last week. If Rai Ragbir is forced out before September there will have to be a by election there too. PNM stands no chance of winning but a good showing would damper an already weak UNC. There are other UNC MPs who have no intention of spending another 5yrs as an Opposition MP and are on their way out. There could be more dissentions as they have nothing to lose and they want to hurt Kamla. But once it is a year before elections there can't be any by elections.

So PNM calling elections early will be a saving grace for UNC. I think they rather let more time play out and allow for further disintegration.
