Noticed half of the house lights were not working, same with some neighbours, no street lights. The TTEC crew showed up, did some checks by the transformer and left. Three and a half hours later I called back the hotline for an update. Woman said it is a defective transformer and because we still have one phase they will deal with it in the morning. She told me it is not only my house, it is the whole area. I assume as a consolation.

I can't believe or understand this decision. I had to connect three extension cords just to keep my fridge working. I don't know how my elderly neighbours, some of who live by themselves made out. Fault was finally fixed fifteen hours later.

Quite common these days, for the last few years as a matter fact.

See this? Best advice ever, and don't limit yourself wrt to what you think will be easily damaged. You would be surprised to see how a massive surge can damage a device that is plugged in but not in use when it comes.
Everything in my house is on a ups except for small kitchen appliances that not in regular use. From the microwave to the fridge and freezer, to the washing machine and treadmill, tv's, stereos, pc, etc.

And if you thought it easy for you to get T&TEC to compensate you for the damage done, you just wasted a thought.
