A fabricator told me he uses 2 tracks in making sliding gates, one at the top and one at the bottom. Of course it limits ur ability to design a nice looking gate with arches, but he claims that it's much safer than the gates with just the track on the ground.
Anybody seen any of those gates with 2 tracks ?

There are fancy arch gate with a two braces. The one at the top will just go behind the gate.

And yeah I agree with MG man. Saying it's bad parenting real harsh. When I was a child one of my aims were to tire out my parents to the point where I could get away with crap

Most quacks who fabricate these gates do not install a protection barrier on the front of the gate, so that when the rubber sliders wear out, the gate does not fall of track, I have also seen gates run completely off track because of the lack of support of a beam with some sort of latch/reinforcement at the end. Another thing why do people fabricate gates to weight close to a ton, only in third world countries they use solid iron..... Lack of future maintenance can also prevent the abuse that sliding a gate suffers, which eventually give away..... with worn wheel bearings, clogged wheel tracks, non greasing of wheels and not replacing them and non oiling of tracks. If you know that you have a faulty gate get it fixed immediately...

I agree they could have had a better designed gate, and we take things like th is waaay too lightly, but to say is de chile mudda fault....harsh

not harsh, just fact......keeping a close eye is always possible, but then should be done as often as needed... most blame in these cases is parents, and little to faulty gates... and how can a gate fall? nobody needing PhDs in physics to put dat ting up...

Some good ideas around build quality being posted, I have no problems with a code for gate construction. It will make us all safer.

Dem "sufferer" gate as you call it are often a lot stronger & safer than the sliding gates ppl install today, can even be automated with actuators & they also open/close faster than the sliding version.
