It comes in a pack of 2 for $150 ($75 per flashlight). It runs on 3AAA batteries, but what really impressed me was that it came with a CREE Q3 led. This fugging thing bright no ass! Definately worth the $75, and you can use it in candle mode. A soft click on the tailcap switch lets you select between a low and a high mode.

for higher voltage and longer life
my c8 is supposed to be 1000 lumens, when current goes it can hit houses a block away
easily lights up trees on street behind

On a serious note...i find halogen/filament bulbs so old tech...LED has come a long way...especially the CREE and other technology
Burns less batteries too
Don't have to worry about the bulb burning out
All my maglites have failed badly
ruff neck chicken wrote:Can the experts here help me choose ah torch light.
i owned a 3 cell maglite which worked well enough. i don't think a tactical light is what i need but the size and weight of the previous maglite was an issue sometimes. if its an option within a reasonable price range i would consider it.long story short i broke my maglite and need a replacement.
i need it for strict outdoor use - hiking, camping, hunting, back packing and basically everything rough and tumble.
i don't have a particular price range as i really not aware the prices these go for now but i was thinking approx $300.
exploring all options purchasing both locally and online.suggestions please

i thought of that but how does the headlamp compare to the hand light.
price, performance, batteries etc.
then again it would be more weight when hiking and trust me all those little things add up.

I always try to get gear that uses AA batteries. about handlight vs headlight...Different horses for different courses.
handlight = look for less spill, look for one with a great "throw". This is normally your backup light
headlight = you need a lot of spill, and look for neutral white led, easier on the eye. This is normally your main light
