Yes it is for advanced divers only. Open water is basic and is only up to 60ft. Advanced is over 60ft up to 130ft. (Deep dive). You also have to do a night dive in advanced. If you check, its not mandatory for you to know how to swim. Because in diving you use your BCD for floatation and you use your fins.......not your arms. You are neutrally bouyant. You must be able to swim the length of the pool though. Unaided. After all that, you can do specialty diving......wreck diving, photography, caves.....etc. wreck diving is very nice. Will post some pics later. Redman did the Atlanta aquarium dive. Its a 4.5 million gal tank with four 20+ft whale sharks, sharks, sawfish, 15ft mantas, 6 ft groupers....... and alot of other fish. I just took in the sights from the viewing glass the times i went.

I'm doing my fishing with a 2M spear pole setup with varying results but it is very easy to travel with vs a proper spear gun. Malta last year was really good, greece the year before was toots...I am yet to try at home but feel it will be googs.
Anyway in Castra in June with the pole spear...if I manage to get through customs and exersize with it, then off to North Coast after that for some Grouper and reds.

Yes you can......... In the questionair, they would ask ask you about any illness previous and/or present. There is a long list of things that you will tick yes or no. This is also to have the instructor monitor you a lil closer. Different people have and show different side effects at depth. For instance, i actually know 2 people that are claustrophobic. They real good under the water but as they reach to the surface they ready to pull that mask off. Having a cold presents a problem with divers because it creates a problem to equalize going down.

Are you talking about going to any dive shop in tobago and just going and dive. Do you know how to snorkel? No dive shop anywhere will just let you put on scuba equipment and just go down without training. I think there are 3 day courses that some dive shops give...........dont quote me!! Nearly all dive shops will ask you what kind of dives you interested in and they will have ratings of training required. Basic, advanced and expert. Under 60ft is for basic underwater, 60-120ft (considered deep diving for scuba), Night diving, drift diving is for advanced (I think wreck diving is in this category), then expert is like cave and ice diving.
There are many safety aspects of scuba that must be learned prior to going down. I did some dives around tobago but never speyside, but i heards its no walk in the park (well it depends where you go) Remember where speyside is situated, anything happens out there they might never find your body.........open water. Give the hotel or dive shop a call and talk to them on what is required. I do believe there are some dive training that gives you the simple basics and you get to do some shallow dives (I think they still have that)

It's amazing. It's the best thing I've ever done. It's a must! Try it at least once
