President and founder of Boodram’s Travel & Tours and Ship Ahoy Cruises, Vicky Boodram, was, up to 3 pm yesterday, still being questioned by police officers from the Fraud Squad.
However, a senior police officer, while confirming that Boodram was being quizzed by police officers, declined to identify where Boodram was being questioned in relation to monies owed to passengers for two cruises which were subsequently cancelled.
The cruises were scheduled to take place in April and August respectively.
Unconfirmed reports however state that she was being questioned at the San Fernando Fraud offices.
The cruise line, Carnival Corporation, has since filed a lawsuit at the Florida Southern District Court claiming ‘‘Trademark Infringement’’ before Judge K Michael Moore, and later referred to Judge Andrea M Simonton
In a telephone interview yesterday, Boodram’s father, Ramjass Boodram, said he has not spoken to his daughter since Tuesday. He also confirmed that his daughter was being questioned by police officers.
‘‘I can’t get on to her,’’ he said, adding, ‘she is not at home, and I believe that she is being interrogated right now.’’
He also described the recent development as ‘‘very sad’’ before declining further comment on the matter. Newsday was reliably informed that the Boodram family, had put up for sale a house at Lazzari Lands, Philippine, with an asking price of $9.5 million.
However, Boodram denied that the family owned any property at Philippine.
When Newsday visited Boodram’s Dumfries Road, La Romaine offices yesterday, the office doors were locked, while another tenant in the building said she had not seen or heard from Boodram since Tuesday.
The Court documents filed by Carnival Corporation’s attorney, Jorge A Mestre of Rivero Mestre LLP, also included a “Motion to Expedite’ the matter which was filed on January 31 by Plaintiff Counsel.
The summons was issued on January 24 to Vicky Boodram, Boodram’s Travel & Tours, Ship Ahoy Cruises, and also sent to the Director of US Patent and Trademark. On Monday, dozens of irate customers descended at the Dumfries Road offices demanding refunds for the two cancelled cruises.

If you need to take a $160,000 loan to spend on a vacation best you stay home and earn some money and leave the lifestyle of the rich to the rich.

Vicky Boodram began her career as a singer at the tender age of six(6). She attended the Erin Road Presbyterian School and then moved on to Iere High School Siparia where she completed up to A’Level studies. During that time though, Vicky was hired by The Trinidad Broadcasting Company Ltd to host their weekend Chutney Programmes.
It was a breath of fresh air to have someone so young and vibrant deliver programmes on air that was of such high quality and standard. Vicky carved her niche in the East Indian Radio market, but continued to pursue her education knowing full well that, like most industries, media was very unstable.
It would seems that Management , Media & The Performing Arts always ran through her blood, because she graduated with B.A.(Hons) in Business Administration from The University of Sunderland and was already on her way to pursuing her M.B.A from the Heriott Watt University London, where her specialty was in Marketing & Communications.
Nothing ever came easily to Vicky, although she is the only child for her parents Ramjass & Indra Boodram.
With the support of her family, Vicky continued to persevere making enough sacrifices and sometimes even doing without to forge ahead.
Vicky occupied managerial positions at various local companies, but eventually realized that she had endured enough of the “gutter politics” and small mindedness of business owners and as a result was motivated to start her own company Victory Consulting & Corporate Training Services Ltd. She is now Chief Consultant to many International enterprises in the sphere of Marketing, Public Relations, Management & Organizational Development.
In addition to this Vicky has Monthly contracts with a group of local, regional & international companies to conduct one day seminars & training in the following:- Marketing & Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Administrative Support Skills, Time Management, Communication, OSHA, Human Resources, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Supervision & Team Building.
To date Vicky has trained some of the most successful companies and their staff and they all continue to achieve desirable results.
Vicky has her hands and plate full, but definitely balances all her skills and remembering that although her business has grown into a multimillion dollar industry, she is still a daughter and also a wife. She finds time to strike a good balance and enjoys travelling, reading good motivational books, cooking, eating (yes eating), and the occasional river lime with her few but selected friends and family.
