MANGLED WRECK: The mangled wreck of Pamela Robinson's car. Robinson was killed on the Barataria highway last week Monday....
POLICE investigating the death of Pamela Robinson, the mother of two who died during an early morning accident at the Barataria overpass last Monday, returned to the scene yesterday.
Investigators were accompanied by Robinson’s husband Shelford who stood watch on the shoulder of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway witnessing the proceedings.
Robinson was heading to work in her black Toyota Celica last Monday, when she was hit in the back of her car by another driver who had reportedly been driving dangerously, cutting in and out of the three-lane highway.
The hit caused Robinson’s car to spin out of control before flipping and then crashing into a concrete slab in the median of the highway.
She was thrown out through the back windscreen of her vehicle and suffered massive head and internal injuries. She died after receiving emergency treatment at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
Sources yesterday revealed that Robinson’s car seat broke from the welded brackets which had fastened it to the chassis of the car.
Yesterday, investigators from the Barataria Police Station stopped traffic on the west-bound lane of the highway as a police photographer PC Majid Khan took photos of the crime scene.
Shelford Robinson watched on, reliving the horror of his wife’s death. He was only five minutes behind his wife, driving in his vehicle, when the accident occurred.
He was caught in the traffic pile up afterwards but had no idea his wife was the victim of a car crash.
A source close to the investigation yesterday revealed that detectives had narrowed down their search for the driver of the purple Nissan Almera believed to be responsible for Robinson’s death.
They are however yet to make any arrests.
Anyone with information that can assist the police in their investigation is asked to contact Ag Sgt Baird at 674- 4723/47-24
