I quite agree with you, even though I would be considered a "tree-hugger" - I prefer to hug something else with softer skin, less bark and ants  . The fellah who said that the thread's title was misleading was quite right. There's no way in hell that environmentalists could ever stop any industrial project that has this government's nod of approval - and that goes for any group, for that matter. This government has ceased to listen to anyone except the little voice inside their own pockets.
The frightening thought is as soon as things get rosy again, we are going to go through this all over again.

yup!

They spoke of the boost to not only the county's economy, but to the employment rate. Citizens who have no direct link to the racing industry would benefit as well, due to the influx of the specific tourists to their country.

since the oil/gas goin an run out soon, why dont we chillax with the industries we have already and use the money that would be spent on the new plants, to actually have a health care system for this country. why dont we develop the agriculture systems so that we could at least feed our selves if not export at a competitive rate. wen petroleum done, what could we sell to generate revenue, as well as what would we be able to eat, or is it that the money amassed from the energy sector goin to be used to purchase food for the persons who dont get an income from the energy sector any more?

my thing is sustainable development without fossil fuels. we should move away from dependence on fossil fuel derived revenue as the fossil fuels goin and disappear just now.
